    6:20:00 ❤ I love this sentiment.
Realized yesterday that I programmed my first “game” when I was 15, I have no reason to doubt myself in my ability to do it again. Only better now that I’m older and wiser.

Not sure where the odd takes on 'Alpha' are coming from. Have always thought of an alpha as basically scaling up QA to the general public. Trading off an early peek, and a chance to influence the game direction, in exchange for rudimentary testing of systems for issues, done on a grandiose scale not otherwise possible for developers internally.

This is the ideal take, but people will see a product and have unrealistic expectations, like having high levels of polish, few bugs, while still wanting to request whole features. I think it's part not knowing how long even the alpha takes to produce, as well as some devs releasing unfinished products which should really be beta or early access. I'm not sure if that's also because on launch steam does things to promote the game so companies are incentivized to launch half-baked products or if it's just become accepted.

I think Minecraft is a brilliant example of that.
In alpha performance was mediocre at best, it crashed alot, functionalies were barebones. Beta gave us a lot of functionalities (sleeping, friendly mobs/conpanions, trading). The full release gave us boss fights and "an end" to the game (literally hehe).
Considering its basically the biggest game of all time (sold) it odd, but maybe with it being close to 15 years since then those experiences have slowly vanished (or have never been made by alot of people in the first place).

I don’t have light switches in my home. I have open sockets that I shoot with a water gun to complete the circuit turning my lights on.

The toxicity during Ashes of Creation section was unbearable. Common sense is so rare these days.

2:10:33 Do people really subscribe to the "spray and pray" method of espousing fact? With no worry as to if their wrong or not? This hurts.

Thor's coding style, I don't know, but the reason for the Minecraft is because he runs Blockgame, an MMO that uses Minecraft as the base.

He’s coding his Minecraft server to make it better for people playing on it.
