I'm happy to say that my brother gave me a good education on whiskey so I passed the test lol I really enjoy your whiskey vids because hey; it's hard to beat whiskey and cigars. Salute, my dudes!

The sweet spot for age for me is usually 10 - 18. I've had a few older that have been good but weren't much better.
Also, I used to be one of those that thought Bourbon = Kentucky. You learn as you grow in this hobby. Cheers fellas 🥃

I’m not a fan of “smoky” whiskey (usually described as “peaty” in Scotland, where I live). My top 5 for those who also don’t like the peat...
The Singleton (my all time favourite but very expensive)
    Glenfiddich
    Highland Park
    Ardlui
Bushmills single malt (from Northern Ireland . The oldest distillery in the world.

Peat and smoke are not the same thing. Smoke, you think a more dusty, wooden flavour. Peat is more akin to dried wild mushrooms and earthly flavour. I personally really like smoked whisky, but peat not so much.

    # 6 - There is no such thing as a truly bad whisky, you just have to use/drink it correctly.

#6 myth....all Blended Whisky is of lower quality and doesn't taste as good as a single malt. There are several Blends (Naked Grouse, Chivas 12) that are much better than some single malts

      So true! Compass box too!

Aside from the fact that naked grouse tastes like ethanol and death, this is indeed myth #6. A perfect example is the nikka from the barrel, which is absolutely phenomenal despite being a japanese-Scottish blended

Lidl does an amazing €13 Kentucky bourbon whiskey, it's better than Jack D

The burning of the barrel is not the primary reason for the darkness of whiskeys. It is the age of the whiskey and the region. Over time, whiskey goes in and out of the wooden barrels during different seasons. In the American south, it happens much more often than Scotland because there is a larger temperature differential but seasons and even day and night. This going in and out of the barrel wood gives whiskey its color, not the amount of char on the barrel

True. I’ve seen the difference of a 1st fill vs 2nd fill bourbon casks same age, same liquid, same distillery. The second fill is still lighter.

Scottish whiskey is called WHISKEY and not Scotch. Please do not call it scotch 😡

    • @seemslegit6203
      @seemslegit6203 Před rokem

First of all, in Scotland we call it whisky, and only we and the irish get that privelage. To the outside world, it's called Scotch. Any other whisky from outside Britain is then whiskey. Although here we tend to call it whisky regardless of origin.
