Little story for the Wagyu, i ordered 2kg of Rib-Eye and got 2kg ( so 4kg total ) for free as they made an error and send me way too much and in Germany they need to throw it when i send it back, so they let me keep it.

Yeah, a thin one is ultimately never as good as a properly cooked thick steak, but I like the thin ones in certain situations, because ALL they require is a good skillet sear, which also provides sufficient cooking on a steak that thin. A few secrets on the BJ's steak, 1. the reason it's cheaper is because it's beef from Canada, hence why there is no USDA Choice sticker on the package. 2. BJ's packages all their fresh cut meat based on prices, meaning that they have a range on what is acceptable to put into a package so you might find 3 smaller steaks or 2 larger steaks in a package. 3. Their 100% money back promise is no joke, they literally take back anything no matter how much was left or whatever the customer did to the piece of meat.

During the pandemic ribeye skyrocketed to over 20usd/lb. and was ridiculous but now the prime cuts are back to somewhat normal at 14'ish/lb. with thick steaks available. For whatever reason in the past year Walmart started using a different packaging (different supplier probably) for the prime cuts and went from a black foam to a blue foam, which you'd think wouldnt matter, but I only bought two of them and both times the foam was like falling apart and I had to clean blue dust like particles off the meats so I haven't bought a Walmart steak since.

My Walmart has prime steaks. I know not every Walmart does, but mine does. Can't tell you why mine does though. I also have an HEB with prime steaks as well as a Costco, Whole Foods, and Fiesta Foods. There are also a few meat markets too. Out of all of them, Costco has the best steaks I have access to. Also, Costco is only slightly more expensive than Walmart. My only issue with Costco is the fact that it is a massive pain in the butt going there. The place is always packed. I end up spending 10+ minutes circling the parking lot with dozens of other cars looking for a spot. Then I have to walk a mile to back of the store after to get the steak to wait forever in a line to walk another mile back to my car. Sometimes I feel it is worth it, but usually not. I end up usually grabbing HEB which is about on the level as whole foods, just cheaper.

In my local supermarket, the steak is a whole horseshoe, wanna break your teeth - go for it.
I'm always feeling jealous of Guga cooking all those great steaks. 😅

In romania its bad too. We dont have a usda ranking system but if we would, they would be no grade. The filet mignon has the same marbeling (almost none) as steaks that are 40 50 dollars/ kg

same in germany with local german cows, ZERO marbeling. I only buy imported stuff from US or australia which mostly turns out good but still not guga level

Get it online if you can. That’s what I’d suggest but I know that still can’t help everyone. I have pretty good selection here in stores but I do want to eventually get some stuff online.

I will never buy supermarket steak ever again.
I only ever buy from a butcher now.
Thanks to this channel, I have a lot more experience buying and cooking great steak.
    Cheers!

You have to try a Publix steak, seeing as Florida is their homestate and they're my personal favorite.

Whole foods is great. They have pork bellies by the lb which is cool, and you can get as much produce as you want.
