      Hi, I would say yes, the car was remapped before fitting this turbo and I drove it around for a few days and did feel better, but of course remap after fitting the turbo to get the most out of it, I would say fit a downpipe as well to get the most out of the turbo and remap, you could see 150hp-158hp. Just be aware about of that turbo outlet pipe issue.

      Yes DD motorsport socketed the ECU which is included in the re-map price quoted.

      Thanks mate, I only ever done petrol in the uk and the odd PD's never really played about with these early TDI's In Portugal they tune these engines so well, to the point I removed the PD from my GTD project and dropped in a 1Z as I was only aiming for 200+. Sorry I've gone off on one.... LOL unfortunately I do not, but maybe I can point you in a direction to look, T4 transport forums, as those boys remap the 2.5 5 pot TDI's which is basically the same motor with one more cylinder, plus a lot for T4's rolling around with 1Z's & AHU's.

      @RestoDesignsnando Před 3 lety +2

      This car is the AFN 110 with VNT turbo and the new turbo is the 130 PD VA again VNT, if you have a silver metal case ECU and not the black plastic ECU then you map it with AFN software to control the VNT turbo. So yes you will need to remap. Your English is good👍🏼

    You can even get a bigger turbo again off a Audi with a BRD engine which is a plug in and play upgrade for the passat so should work on your setup.

    • @RestoDesignsnando
      @RestoDesignsnando Před 3 lety +1

      Yes totally the BV43 right? That is what I've fitted into my our project a hybrid one, this was always going to be a budget and limited due to the standard intercooler.

    • @jacroberts3204
      @jacroberts3204 Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah that’s the one. Also how much did the the remap for the mk3 with the va and 216 injectors cost? I’m guessing it’s a msa15 ecu so did you up upgrade the map sensor in the ecu to a 3 bar one ?

    • @RestoDesignsnando
      @RestoDesignsnando Před 3 lety +1

      @@jacroberts3204 The remap was 240€ from DD Motorsport. No need for the 3 bar map sensor due to the VA safe limit of 1.4/1.5 and the goal of 160-/+ hp, On the 'open air' project and the BV43 hybrid and 2++ then 1.8-1.9 is needed so did the 3 bar map mod on that.

    • @jacroberts3204
      @jacroberts3204 Před 3 lety

      True it’s not needed but you are at the limit of the standard map with 1.5 bar boost so the sensor is often maxed out. Running a 3 bar would be optimal so the ecu would be able to control boost spikes correctly. That’s also a really good price for a remap. Can’t wait to see more content on this mk3 have you got any more plans for it?

    • @RestoDesignsnando
      @RestoDesignsnando Před 3 lety +2

      You will need to replace a few more things, oil feed and oil return from the AFN, you will need the Passat turbo manifold as well, the downpipe flange is also different, then you'll need to modify your ecu to control the VNT

    • @RestoDesignsnando
      @RestoDesignsnando Před rokem

      It could do as the Audi 80 engine is 'north/South' like the Passat B5, with the 1Z you will also need to mod or replace your ECU to be able to control a VNT turbo. 👍🏼

    • @wichywoo
      @wichywoo Před rokem +1

      @@RestoDesignsnando it is north south like a passat b5 /audi a4 b5 so what ecu would i need ? i'm asking because I've just vac tested my bog standard turbo this afternoon which i know has been on the car for at least 17 years as that's how long i've had it and although there's good vacuum at the actuator but the actuator rod isn't moving so i'm guessing the vanes are stuck inside the turbo. it doesn't burn or use any old through the turbo. so i was thinking if i cannot free it off tomorrow i may do an upgrade if i have to take the original turbo off . thanks for replying ;o)

    • @RestoDesignsnando
      @RestoDesignsnando Před rokem

      @@wichywoo You have a few options ECU wise, AFN ECU, or a late 1Z/AHU alloy ECU which can be updated with AFN software, check to see what ECU you have, if it is a black plastic one(can't be upgraded to AFN software)

      @@RestoDesignsnandoa quick update its a 1994 model and its an alloy one ;o) i did manage to get the original turbo working as the actuator was well out of adjustment but i'm still considering a turbo upgrade. would i still be able to start and run the car to someone who could make the necessary adjustments/afn update to the ecu if it had an upgraded 130pd turbo and standard 90hp nozzles or would it need the afn software upgrade prior to starting. i have ordered some 210 and 216 nozzles. i wasn't bothered about the speed etc but more torque for pulling a trailer/weight .

    • @RestoDesignsnando
      @RestoDesignsnando Před rokem +1

      @@wichywoo Ok good news on the ECU side of things, yes it would be better to getting the software done before and plug in a N75 valve. Maybe this could be a bit too much torque if pulling a trailer for the clutch. Drop in the .210 nozzles and just add a remap to get 130ish and a nice jump in torque.
