This is a video on all of the cutscenes for DragonBall Z Budokai 1. Please subscribe or else I cannot make anymore videos. I took 4 Hours of my morining making this video including upload, publishing and Editing time -_-. So it would mean alot if you'd subscribe .. - Hry
Budokai 1 captured more of the anime than any other dbz game
+Ryax Sadly not its gameplay, but it was made in the early 2000's so oh well
+The Anime Connoisseur meh i can overlook that
Ryax i almost can. Its the blocking i have a problem with
+The Anime Connoisseur cpu constant blocking?
Ryax too much constant blocking. It drove me mad
This game has the best cutscenes out off all the dbz games. Makes me feel like I'm watching the show.
Tracy Kilpatrick cutscenes and not only. Remember that it has a fuckin amazing amount of fuckin Soundtracks!!!
Tracy Kilpatrick
Honestly when I was kid, I didn’t know where to watch DBZ but I knew about it. So in a way, this game was like I was watching the show. And I’ve been a fan ever since
far too much narm. even compared to the original funimation fub.
also the models look far too...
plastic. and with the over-the-top facial expressions (see perfect cell) it just reeks of narm.
almost so bad it's good.
best example: 1:00:20. this face he makes puts cell with googly eyes after vomitting up 18 to shame.
Tracy Kilpatrick I agree.
This game might have the most accurate cut scenes for any dragon ball z game... And it came out almost 15 years ago

Which is sad for modern games to fail to capture the detail and cutscenes this well and this game is also uncensored so it has the blood and gore just like the anime unlike other dbz games
The music, voice acting, the drama, and the pace was done immaculately in this game. It's a really good way to get into the actual series.
blitzwaffe When I was a kid my dad told me about how he would watch this with friends, and because a fibe year old may not have the attention span to watch 291 episodes of badass screaming and lasers, He got the game for us to play together and the story mode is how I fell in love with this series
Playing this game as a kid got me into DBZ.
I was watchin the show at 5 lmao
I was five when I first got into Dragon Ball but I am fifteen at the time I am commenting.
As a young kid this game came out when I was 8 or 9. I'm 23 now and by far it's still the best dbz game. Imagine they made FighterZ with these cutscenes and effort????😭💕💕👌🏽 heres to praying
1:08:10 - 1:08:12 that fight was probably real timing
LMFAOOOOOOOO
😂😂😂
This happend really?
That’s insane 😂😂
LOL
Actually playing this and experiencing the story first hand when the game came out was a whole different feeling.

"IT'S OVERRR FRIIIIEEEEZAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!"
THANK YOUUUUU!!!!!!!
THAT'S GODLY
Fun fact: this scene in Japanese(You mean Krillin?!) is as iconic as “OVER 9000” is to us in the U.S. So iconic that the what if at the end where Vegeta becomes a Super Saiyan on Earth spoofs it but replaces Krillin with Nappa
I've never realize how good these cut-scenes for a PS2 game. It really captures the DBZ universe
Baboska it's gamecube
@@im_solomon6404 it was on ps2 1st
And made in 2002
@@im_solomon6404 it's on ps2 as well
Why don't they make cutscenes like this in the games anymore? This game's cutscenes even had models for King Kai and even showed Cell throwing up 18 and reverting back to his Semi-Perfect Form before turning on his bomb. Other games don't even show that, they're usually just character portraits with text or it happens off-screen.
Exactly. In my opinion the perfect DBZ game would look like this: Cutscenes like Budokai 1. Storymode like Budokai 3 or BT2. Gameplay from BT3 and graphics from Raging Blast 2. I would be lost ^^
Bennet Ooh, don't forget large roster like BT3, but each character feels/plays differently too!
John Wilson cuz we passed that already, how many times do we need to know the story, fool?
Bennet I prefer raging blast 1 graphics than 2
I love that they used the original voice actors
"Just wait until you get a taste... of the legendary wolf fang's fist"
Hoooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwl
That just made yamcaha 70% cooler
Meh, more like

Trex10100 1:09:33 Scene
I used to let Yamcha beat me repeatedly so I could hear that line over and over again lmao
Trex10100 he says that then he is on the ground next scene lmao I'm dead
I love that authentic DBZ dub feel these old Budokai games have.
-Cool music
-That classic raspy Vegeta and Piccolo voice delivery from Chris Sabat
-Stephanie Nadolny, Linda Young and more
I agree. This was the OG Funi cast at their peaks.
Now that I think about it. For a PS2 DBZ game, this was the most graphic and narrative for me. They really went in with the transformations and the wounds. I'm impressed.
Tyron Turner it looks better on the GameCube with the advanced shadows
@@xboy9384 Whether the shading was a better choice of style from the gamecube is subjective.

Indeed.
So glad this was the first DBZ game that introduced me to the show
Almost 2 decades later and I’m still in love with this game. The cutscenes and music still get me to this day!
43:47 BRUH LOOK AT THE HAIR MOVEMENT 😍
why is this the only DBZ Game that has the most acurate story over any other DBZ games!!!??
because of the space of disc and the console's hardware power , but nowadays, they can do it, sorry for my english i am brazillian
Felipe Games e Tutoriais that's not the answer at all if this were true there would be portraits with text. Accurate is a good thing. They did this because they weren't lazy but now it's gotten pretty lazy.
Because this was meant to be the definitive DBZ game at the time of release. It was pretty effective and really set a standard for future games, at least for me. Guess they didn't feel the need to replicate these masterful cutscenes for a while, especially after the change in graphics not being quite as cinematic like it is here. The focus went primarily to the look and feel of in-game fighting afterwards.
This series had the absolute best fucking music.
30:24-30:36 still sends chills down my spine till this day
31:06 ITS OVER FRIEZA!!! Man A Hero’s Desperation fits both Goku and Gohans Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2 transformations perfectly.
This game had the best cutscenes in any dragon ball game without a doubt and can’t no one say otherwise
💯
I agree with you there
Agreed so much detail for a ps2 game
I like how the happy "Previously on..." music played over Yamcha's death.
played over it like he was just a waste of time😂 lmao
Seriously, for a game released in 2003, the cutscenes are amazing!
*2002
MGS2 came out in 2001...
I really played this as a kid.
Seeing how faithful the cutscenes were to the original uncut anime was amazing.
These are some crazy good cutscenes for such an old game

THE Dragon Ball Z game, personally... heard the HD Remake was trash, though. Oh well, I prefer this one. Original music, characters, and the nostalgia is perfect when I play it on weekends and summer (summer especially) at night and all night. :) Anyone agree?
Oh, and I know almost every line by heart, down to tone and speed.
Yeah Man the game is really nice to play at Night in the summer cause you got all that time and nice Setup is really nice to play the game too.
Only bad part about the HD remake is the music for Budokai 1 and the intro song for Budokai 3. Other than that everything else is fine really. The new music itself isn't bad, but it's like they didn't even try to get music to fit the cutscenes.
TheApexFactor I was just 5 when I started playing this. Its so awesome back then and its still awesome today.
+Chief Xibalba in the HD remake they also censored a few of the attacks. I hate that.
53:49 YOU'RE A CHILD
ALEKSEJGT
I WONT BE BEATEN BY A KID
The voice actors were so young and so enthusiastic to match! Literally the only game I can remember where the lip sync was 100%. The music was insanely good especially during the Frieza fight. They made these scenes so dynamic too never a dull moment! So damn graphic with blood and gore too which is a damn shame they don’t do this anymore. And the final dessert is having “what if” scenario’s. Seeing Frieza/Cell have their victory is so surreal and hilarious in a twisted way with how they act.
I've seen a lot of people in the comments over the years saying the same thing as what I'm about to ands its nice to know that I'm not alone. Dragon Ball Z Budokai on PS2 was my first full-on exposure to DBZ. I grew up knowing about it but I'd only ever heard about the plot and characters from friends. A lot of guys I knew were obsessed with it and it's all they would talk about. I honestly believe this is one of the best DBZ Games ever made if for no other reason than the fact of the cutscenes . They really and truly represented the story of DBZ through the medium of video games. Most DBZ games now have the cutscenes as the characters just standing there with their mouths flapping and the dialogue not matching at all. The cutscenes in this game essentially turned DBZ Budokai into a cinematic experience. You got to understand the plot and watch the characters play out scenes from the series in full 3d with good effects considering the era and even now... Though I was definitely confused by the yellow Kamehameha in the beginning though 😅. If we could get a DBZ Game with the Game play of DBZBT3, The graphics of Raging Blast 2 and the Storytelling of DBZ Budokai, I think we'd have the perfect DBZ Game.
Man the music for this game will always be a banger
When you're dying but still need to text bae 13:02

Man I miss when games weren't lazy copy paste. This is still my favorite dragonball z game
I think this is my true first db(z) experience. I watched a lot of the anime in random order as a baby. But this game introduced me to the lore and characters. This was the game that told me the story that I'd see repeat itself in all games following. This game's music sticks with me too.
Love how the Cell absorbing Krillin scenario was just a bad dream Cell was having waiting at the Cell games
The other dragin ball z games are missing this. Like i love how they took their time making these cut scenes
Always loved seeing scouter Vegeta as a Super Saiyan.
53:48 "You're a CHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILD!! I won't be beaten by some kid!!"
7 year old me, about to perfect this man next round: Yes. I am. And we'll see about that. :)
Out of the *many* DragonBall/DragonBall Z games I've played, the lines used in "Budokai" I remember more-so than any other, to the point I can actually quote (most of) them. :P
"You're a chillllllld!"
Says the...younger android.
53:40 is my favorite cutscene for some reason.

@@ValkyrianWyverian That boy Gohan had Cell's mental on the ropes😂 it's ironic because when you think about it, Cell is a child himself
Thank you for uploading this and bringing back old times man. It takes me back to my childhood and when DBZ started airing :)
Thanks for this, it's a great way to experience these acts of the story in a concise way!!
I love how Gohan was made to be the focus point all the way through to the Cell saga
This game was my introduction to Dragon Ball Z
Every battle is easy except the final battle vs Cell. Your power drains so fast than he just wrecks you.
There were different game settings ranging from Easy>>> Normal>>> Hard
+Peter Griffin I also found the battle against Frieza (Final Form/100%Final Form) difficult for the exact same reason. Vegeta's and Cell's "What-If" Stories were pretty difficult as well since you had to fight multiple opponents without recovering Health in-between.
not to mention your ki drains faster since it's goku's fifth transformation, while gohan's ssj2 was his second.
Oh tell that to TeamFourStar when they fought Android 19.
Well, not to be an ass, but TeamFourStar doesn't seem to be that great at games. Remember their _Kingdom Hearts_ playthrough? :P
Budokai is the best game because it captured the anime as a theatrical film, plus the score is incredible
The cutscenes and music made this one of the most authentic DBZ games ever made. Classic.
53:49 When she finds out you're two days younger than her.
Here goes my childhood everything on this it's just perfect, the animation, the music is beautiful. I used to play Dragon Ball Z: Budokai in the game cube.
This game it's just an artwork
Nappa sounds like he's from Boston lol
Mm yeah, the original music
The old plagiarized music
The cutscenes in this game are absolutely astonishing for the time

I'll settle for 480i if it means I get to keep the original music. I'm so glad I own all the original budokais.
I truly loved this game. Forgot how many hours I put into this when I was a kid and first got my PS2. The only thing that bothered me about this game was the Kamehameha. I found it strange the Cell's Kamehameha was blue but Goku's and Gohan's was a light tan color. Otherwise loved the game. This and Budokai 3 were great.
if this game had every character budokai t3 had and the story modes and movies were all shown in cutscenes? OMG
Scott Boyd yoooooo that's what I used to tell my brother.
Worth it, totally, awesome!
"You can't send Yamcha to fight me by himself, it's just not fair" The way his voice cracked made me chuckle.
I played this game so much I can recite anyone one of these cutscenes from memory
The graphics and cutscenes for this game were unreal when this came out, there was nothing else like it. The character acting in the cutscenes is still better than modern Dragonball games
I got this game when I was about 6.It doesn't work anymore, but man do I WISH IT DID! This introduced me to DBZ, and it was so much fun!
I miss this game, got it for Christmas 🎄⛄ when I was 14. So many memories
Best DBZ game ever. The cutscenes are amazing!
I loved this game, it was really hard to play at first, but once you get use to the controls, it's amazing!
Goddammit XD now thats stuckin my head hahahahhahahahhahahhahahhahahahahhahahaha
Dude, isn't this an underrated comment, just how far have you come!!
Man these were the good days
Looking back at it, Dragon Ball Z Kakorot adds details in areas that needed detail then takes out in others. I'll stick to Budokai 1 at this point.
Wow its now 3.10 am I'm done watching it great video loved this game still play it todat
They can show the holes in Raditz and Goku's chest here, but not in recent games?
+Hot Rod I was expecting to see holes in infinite world. how wrong i was...
Before ppl were pussies
Back when people weren't ultra sensitive.
22:36 and Vegeta having blood pour from his mouth like talk about detail and no censorship

So much nostalgia. I literally was saying line for like with the characters this game was so amazing

10:08 Nappa's damaged voice in this cutscene makes him sound so much more dumb than he is that it's hilarious lmao.
i thought it was really cool how budokai 1 had real cutscenes instead of just speech bubbles
Crazy how this game is better than DBZ Kakarotto
Wow I watch this 2 times Awsome
You missed a cutscene between King Kai warning Goku about Frieza, and Goku praising himself on his training. And that cutscene is a personal favorite of mine too.
Wait isn't that at 16:26?
No, it's where he says "Yes! It's go time! Let's get down to business!"
The best story mode of all DBZ games period.
I wish they made a dbz game like this today, with cut scenes like this, but add the realistic graphics and moves from budokai 3 and the 3D fighting from Tenkaitchi. That would be the perfect game
DBZ games:
Best graphics: Burst Limit and Xenoverse
Best gameplay: Shin Budokai 1 & 2 (imo)
Best 3D-maneuver fighter: Tenkaichi 2, Tenkaich 3, & Xenoverse
1:05:47 and frieza lived happily ever after.
xD
They should have added Frieza wishing himself eternal life in this comedic fashion as a Dramatic Finish in DBFZ.
17:54 Vegeta just looked at the camera when he was called hot headed.😂
This game told the story the best imo...thats why it was so good
Good stuff dude. Any chance you can put up the video somewhere? I'd like to compare the cutscenes from Budokai and Burst Limit, specifically Nappa and Tien and SSJ Goku and Frieza.
this was my first exposure to dragon ball z in general and i absolutely loved the story it was hard for me to watch the anime plus the filler, but this represents the manga way better than dragon ball z kai blew me away and it reminds me exactly like budokai 1 did without the filler.
best soundtrack ever
The music on 56:10 always let me know to prepare myself for hell
I love how the spirit bomb sounds
I know I'm not the only one that looses it when Goku says *_"bye :)"_* at the end...
