  • Texas, 1993. A group of road workers were out working in the brutal summer heat. As they went about their jobs, one of them would make a gruesome discovery. It was a crime that would leave the most experienced officers in shock and they knew they were in a race against time. They would have to use all of their knowledge and skill to stop a ruthless killer, before they stuck again.

Shame on any of those mental health professionals who call themselves drs. Pathetic! The first psychiatrist got it right from the start and who in their right mind could look at his diaries and listen to all the evidence and draw any other conclusion? He should have never been released from that hospital! Now those poor excuses of mental health proffesionals, these children’s blood is on your hands! Pathetic!

The f-d up families that produce most of the kids like this aren't the types that will care, unfortunately. This is why it's important for a country to invest in a well run Child Protection Agency that can screen for this. Sociopaths are born, but psychopaths are created.

The police didn't know about his killing activity until this crime was committed, so there isn't anything they could do about it, police can't just go from home to home randomly asking - oh do your children kill animals, I mean really, it doesn't make sense that you think that is a possibility, tragically it takes another crime to occur for them to discover someones criminal activity.

We were in an odd place socially at that time. In 93 I was 13 and i can remember, it was normal enough for some boys to want to create this identity where they're a psycho killer... usually trying to seem big and bad out of some complex where they feel weak and vulnerable.

  • @everlynevins

For anyone who wants to blame the dad, consider this: the crimes took place in 1993. The dad might have assumed it was friends of his son picking him up (because "someone" was sitting at the backseat as well).
While the 90s wasn't crime-free, kids still had more freedom to be out and about without the thought something *could* happen to them. This is hardly possible now unless you live in a safe area. And even then, there are risks.
Saying "I would've done this and that" does not change the fact that this monster killed the two teenagers. I'm sure the father blamed himself enough.

@@fernfunk Yes. Violent crime has consistently gone down over the last several decades. People fearmonger as though today is more dangerous, when in reality the difference is that news spreads more now (so you hear about crimes when they happen, instead of them vanishing into local papers) and that people tend to get caught more often (so cases blow up, instead of going cold). This idea that it used to be safe, so people were fine to do XYZ and now it's dangerous so they can't is nonsense. It's exactly the reverse: it used to be dangerous but people didn't know. To those who are upset that the killer's background and upbringing is dissected and considered when investigating murders....if we didn't learn from these people, what contributes to these behavioral issues, we'll never have a chance of dealing with it as society.
If it weren't for people interested in what makes killers tick, we wouldn't know that torturing and mutilating animals was a solid sign of escalation into murdering humans, we wouldn't know that being shitty to your kids might lead them down this path.
Its also possible that saying things like "I had a terrible upbringing and I didn't murder anyone" isn't grasping the concepts. Its not for sympathy for the murderer, or a unfocusing on the victims, its vital information.
Just calling someone evil and letting it be that is just contributing to the problem. At the very least, its not helpful to future victims of abuse and violence.
