I fell in love with this concerto when in 1991 Klaus Kinski brought his new movie Paganini to Dolby Labs where my husband was a sound engineer and we watched it there together with Kinski... this concerto sounded through the entire film, I got a CD and listened to it almost daily... Film was never released in the States, Kinski died 3 months later. There are so many different feelings in this concerto, passion, sadness, sorrow, the violin cries and it pleads... This is the recording that was used in the film.
Salvatore Accardo is reputably the finest interpreter of Paganini's violin concerti. He has recorded all six along with the twenty-four caprices. Paganini's music is fiendishly difficult to play and his performances drew gasps from his audiences. Small wonder he was called the Devil's Violinist. His public adored him. When he died at the age of fifty-seven he was refused a Catholic burial because of this association with the Devil!!! This is a superb recording and is best listened to and savoured in absolute silence.

Incredible player Accardo!
The best.
Una magnífica interpretación de referencia. Acertadamente elegida por Klaus Kinski para su último film "Paganini" (1989)
