With the current rise in popularity of ARGs/analog horror, this was brilliant in retrospect. Especially the execution of presentation. I really wish this faux documentary had more episodes since these were relatively high quality for just marketing buzz.
When starting to put the story and all the pieces together, these clips are really enlightning. I am surprised about how deep and complicated the story actually is below the surface!
One of my favorite things about the BioShock franchise is the historical, psychological, and socialogical aspects. It's such an interesting look on history and humanity. Love it.
The attack on New York will be in the 80s, how did the US/USSR/NATO military satellites not pick up a massive city floating about. Kinda strange that something that massive would just be gone without any detectable trace *****
Hard to say, the US and USSR might be afraid of Columbia considering this massive city full of technological marvels and a lot of firepower has been gone for decades and a piece of it was discovered in the Alps
Now don't forget, while the rest of the world would have been advancing in technology, so would Columbia. On top of that, Columbia has a huge headstart in basically everything.
I love the 80's historical program/conspiracy documentary feel to this. I think it could've been a bit better to have had more actual models or film scenes as the CG is a bit obvious in contrast to the historical footage.
Yo! Never knew about these trailers, but just finished my 4th playthrough of the game and did some reading. Just fantastic writing, the game still holds up today, no doubt. Not that you asked, but I always thought the scene in 1983/84 was kind of dumb in that 1) how did Columbia not come up with nuclear weapons by then, which they surely would have used on the "Sodom below," and 2) Columbia should be super vulnerable to satellite and radar detection. Another dude pointed that out on here like 6 years ago. Cheers buddy.
So pumped for this. If the amount of work going in to the (frankly amazing) marketing/coverage of this game is representative of the amount put in to the game.... hell.
March 1981 is when they discovered a piece of Columbia, not the exact date that it fell. The game, Bioshock Infinite, takes place in 1912 almost 8 decades from the date they find the house in the Alps. They also mentioned the objects inside the house as "relics" which brings you to assume that they're dated or old.
I loved this trailer, just wish they'd continue with this and make a full length documentary with this style :P it was so errie and mysterious, was so awesome.
Actually this documentary only exists in the universe where Booker took the Baptism and became Comstock but it no longer exists anymore though since it was erased. Also remember this documentary was made in 1981 which three years later, A Elizabeth led Columbia attacks the ground world below.
I think the video was suppose to creep people out, since the bioshock series always involved horror. And I have to admit, this video was really creepy. Can't wait for the game to come out!
So ...this video show a lot what happpens in the sky city,, not only genetical transformation into dogs , or cats. but also transforming earth into its experimental ground ! this just keeps getting better and better
I feel like they're hinting at something with this, it just reminds me of the gameplay footage where Elizabeth tries to resurrect the horse, and she instead opens a gateway to another world with the 'Revenge of the Jedi' movie theatre. That looked very 80's too. Maybe time travel's involved.

Analog horror pathetic buzz words for simply horror

This gives me goosebumps! I love the atmosphere of the 80s mystery documentaries! The marketing people did an amazing job with this!
reminds me of something they would show on the history channel
A viewing tip: If you want to see this as it would have looked if it had been converted from 16mm film to VHS tape watch it in 360p.
This needs to be made into a series for sure! Excellent promo!

You'd think with jet fighters, radar systems and the fact the two largest nations are on edge, they'd be able to find and possibly destroy Columbia
The attack on New York will be in the 80s, how did the US/USSR/NATO military satellites not pick up a massive city floating about. Kinda strange that something that massive would just be gone without any detectable trace *****
+Bass “The Bass Remix” Heller I always thought the attack would cause a war between the NATO and the USSR.
Hard to say, the US and USSR might be afraid of Columbia considering this massive city full of technological marvels and a lot of firepower has been gone for decades and a piece of it was discovered in the Alps
Gotta wonder what the world situation is with this hyper advanced flying fortress city gone rouge for so long
Now don't forget, while the rest of the world would have been advancing in technology, so would Columbia. On top of that, Columbia has a huge headstart in basically everything.
Videos like these just adds to the vision and passion this team has for their games. Love it

Love stuff like this. I remember when this teaser was first uploaded! Anyone from 2020?
Yo!

I hope they do more of these! I love faux documentaries, they're always so damn creative. Please do more Irrational, you guys rock!
That was great!
I wish more gaming companies got this creative.
My dad walked in on me watching this and he thought i was actually watching a documentary for school :P
Hell yes!! This is freaking amazing Irrational :)
DAMN! I hope there are more of these on the way! That was awesome!
I hope they actually make this a full thing as a special feature. I'd watch it over and over again.
I love the retro AHX intro at the beginning.
That's a really cool trailer! Well done Irrational!
So pumped for this. If the amount of work going in to the (frankly amazing) marketing/coverage of this game is representative of the amount put in to the game.... hell.
This is so well done, love it
Epic video,, I love the way that they work on each game. Everything, they take care off all the videos
I love that these have the Ghost Story stamp on them. Levine. Genius. Masterwork.
Good job Irrational, now you have me drooling.
I love the Ken Burns style still photographs
@IrrationalGames Please we are begging you guys to make this a series!!!!! This is to good!!!!

That is truly some amazing adversing. Good job Irrational Games!
I wish these were longer
This is brilliant. I love teaser trailers like this.
Awesome. This made the storyline that much more interesting. :)
Please do more of these type of trailers, brings back memory of elementary school, sitting in front of a slide projector :)
There needs to be more videos like this!
Well played, Irrational Games. Well played.
Bioshock Infinite you had my curiosity but now you have my atention!
Wow. That was really well done.
Very well done in how they made the video.
Wow, this is so much better than the trailer with the preorder bonuses. Makes me really interested in the game, can't wait to play it :D
This is amazing!
This is amazing. For some reason, I can feel that this hints toward a sequel already. The next game could possibly be Columbia in the 1980s
I feel like this deserves to be watched at 240p for true a nostalgic-like feeling.
so in all seriousness will this be a series? Looks AMAZING. and very well done. Incredibly plausible
I hope there is more of these leading up to the release.
This is so clever, I mean I was seriously wondering what Columbia's reputation in the outside world was and this shows exactly that!
I loved this trailer, just wish they'd continue with this and make a full length documentary with this style :P it was so errie and mysterious, was so awesome.
this is absolutely the best trailer I have ever seen
This hyped me up more than gameplay could.
Actually this documentary only exists in the universe where Booker took the Baptism and became Comstock but it no longer exists anymore though since it was erased. Also remember this documentary was made in 1981 which three years later, A Elizabeth led Columbia attacks the ground world below.
This is the best trailer I've seen in a long time
i love this kind of videos :]
Loving the old "In Search Of" vibe!
This is so awesome.
Fantastic! I just love the feeling of this trailer. Ken Levine - you sir, are a gemius.
This gave me chills.
This is what you get when thinking adults apply themselves to games. Thanks Ken & Company. Great stuff.
i think this is gonna hint at the alternate realities you will visit in the game if so....FREAKING AWESOME
Holy Comstock, this video was excellent.
i loved the music that was put to the video
This reminded me of those old Dharma Initiative videos from LOST....
Looking forward to Bioshock Infinite!
Can't wait!!!
Cool stuff!
They need to make a special edition of this that comes with those artifacts!
If only this became a full show, it'd be interesting and informative. Still, awesome job on it. -MegaScience
Brilliant. That's really all I can say about it. I want more.
This is pretty brilliant.
i love this kind of commercials. please make more of this till you release the game :)
This might just be the greatest video game trailer I've ever seen.
Oh...my...Gary Gygax! Every time I see a new Bioshock Infinite video, the more I want to play it. Cue Futurama's Fry and "...take my money!"
Brilliant!!
I'm just so pumped for this game definitely a day 1 purchase for me. I hope this is the 1st of more trailers as we head to launch.
Brilliant trailer! Just brilliant :)
I think the video was suppose to creep people out, since the bioshock series always involved horror. And I have to admit, this video was really creepy. Can't wait for the game to come out!
Beautiful!
this was really cool
Brilliant!
This is so much more chilling after you've beaten the game...
Holy shit, they've still got it.
Okay, guys. Hands down, that may been the best game trailer since the first from Dead Island. Keep them coming until the release. They are awesome!!!!
Well done Irrational.. the tone reminds me of an informative Twilight Zone opening,
Oh alright. Thanks for clearing that up.
Goddamn this is cool. More please.
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
I vote for more video's like this one.
That was really well done, I've watched a lot of those cheesy 70s/80s documentaries throughout high school, and this is like them, except interesting.
what a great add. I want to watch more!!! They should also do one for rapture.
These videos are the fucking best
So ...this video show a lot what happpens in the sky city,, not only genetical transformation into dogs , or cats. but also transforming earth into its experimental ground ! this just keeps getting better and better
I want to see the rest of the show! :D
Love it!
Good call!
I really wanna put this onto a VCR
That was amazing, mysteries lead to speculation and we get to sovle it all as Booker DeWitt.
Reminded me of something out of A Current Affair from the 80s/early 90s
The collectors edition is indeed where the artifacts came from!
Most brilliant trailer ever.
I knew it, I knew this theory would pop up eventually.
The "You are you're own enemy" time paradox that comes with the time travel genre.
I hope this becomes a series till the game comes out....cuz this was PERFECT
man watching it in 240p makes the trailer even more awesome and realistic, never thoug i said that
This needs that video tape option
