But if I was to type out what Simon said it would be something like "der Öschlögvargda" which sounds very swedish or at least scandinavian to me. But we have the word "Staubfänger" which is dust collector or literally dust catcher and it is normally used to describe something ornamental or decory in the house that is just there for the sake of it catching dust. So, not quite like a pile of books. I would probably go for "Bücherhaufen" or "Leseliste" but it would be metaphorical like a to-Do list or some kind of goal in your mind and not the actual thing.
