Low cost ($320), portable room Air Conditioner Installation for Vanlife

Review of installation and use of Commercial Cool portable room air conditioner rated at 8000 BTU ASHRAE standard (5000 BTU DOE std, note error in video stated 6000). Material cost was $15 for a small sheet acrylic ("plexiglas") window duct. The biggest part of this job was custom cutting the duct plate/window insert to fit the window track and match shape of glass. It is retained by closing window
The duct collapses axially to a small size for storing the unit and the window duct insert is easily removed in seconds. I will make a nest for the base (disable wheels) and probably attach some corner protection (for storage) made of cardboard and strap them on with zip ties. Approximate weight 44 lbs (shipping weight).
I make no claims about the performance or durability of this unit, sadly like so much garbage, it is made in China. Time will tell if it will last. I suspect it will meet my relatively short term needs.
Note: upon further testing in higher ambient temperature conditions, the unit pulled 970 Watts

Cheap crap made in China! That's where everything comes from these days... Not good for the USA or the rest of the world. I don't know how much I'll really want to use it, so it'll probably last long enough for my needs.
