Check for anion gap--> if high suspect oranic acidemia....if normal then suspect aminoacidopathies or urea cycle disorders...ammonia normal in aminoacidopathies while urea cycle disorders it increases

Follow up the recommendation of your pediatrician and the instructions on the test result from the state. these tests are very sensitive, it is important to confirm because of the high false positives.

Have in mind that it's a bit tricky transposing BUN (mg/dl) to urea(mmol/l), because 1 urea molecule has 2 nitrogen molecules.

I was born with citruillinemia type 1 me and my sisters yea the ammonia levels shouldn’t go more Dan thousand it should be in between 20 40 I had bad experience with high ammonia levels so much medication restricted low protein diet no meat no eggs no fish no cheese my ammonia levels allways up and down it took dem four months to find out wat was wrong bring up milk it got test at great ormond street children’s hospital in England London
