I like how the steam release version of the Pizzaface phase 3 fight makes it look like all the enemies have their full health to make it feel that much more like Peppino is absolutely fucking pulverizing the shit out of them
Oh yeah it hits so different especially when mashing even though it does nothing
one thing i like about this version is the final hit of phase 3 it just feels more impactful as a spining piledrive and the rocks
The screams are 10x better

Kinda sad the upstairs animation never got used, although the one of Jerome sadly cranking the elevator up is way funnier
Try playing the demo 0 and you will see that it uses the same animation

The lightning in pizzaface phase 3 causing the arena to temporarily black out like vigilante phase 2 is REALLY cool and i wish they kept that in
was probably binned due to issues with visibility. it is hard to see what's going on when that happens

The lack of bosses during the ending gives it a totally different vibe, like "yay everyone that confronted you is dead!"
and the lack of music makes it very awkward

the shadows are there, so i think they were just animated sprites added in beyond the graphic for the ending animation
wow, this really makes me want to see like. ALL of pizza towers history documented on TCRF. it might even take a coupla years to complete with all the changes between each version. i have never seen a game change as much as pizza tower, to the point where even the most RECENT builds are almost completely different from the steam release
there is an effort being made to do this! if you want, you can 100% contribute, just make an account and document the changes as you see 'em!
That's a pretty tall order, I think… Can't blame you though, TCRF's pages on the differences in level layouts and object placements in Sonic 2's Betas 4 - 8 did set a pretty high bar.
I think that just really speaks to the amount of polish that went into this game.
update: "infamous pizza tower fan who will not be named" sounds like a crazy title to have lol. really like the progress made on the tcrf page, ive spent like a couple hours reading everything on it because its all really interesting to read
we have access to patreon/playtester builds now but I wonder how much of the twitch dev have been archived across the pt community

Exactly how i'd describe it! It feels... Wrong. It's the final game, with the "unfinishedness" so to say of Eggplant build and the SAGE 2019 Demo. It's just... Cursed. Or rather, Blursed.

To be fair the bosses already had most of their sprites done by then, and not much else major is really missing from the final game compared to eggplant, besides chef tasks

The difference between this beta version and the final version is polish - the subtle tweaks and improvements that make a bad game tolerable, a good game great, and a great game a masterpiece. Several of the changed sound effects that the player hears frequently (the toppins in their cages; the sound the eye portals make when Peppino enters them; Peppino's scream when he encounters a boss) are much more annoying and offputting here than in the final version; the results screen and some of the cutscenes are a bit more barebones; and the P rank appears to be missing. Tour De Pizza could have easily released this version late last year and achieved some modest success, but they clearly continued incorporating QA and playtester feedback and kept adding bells and whistles until the very end of the game's development.

I love how in the ending even though they're not there, you can still see the bosses's shadows on the floor
I love how the Pizza Time Music is muffled on the Pause Screen in this Build.
Seeing someone getting a P rank without doing lap 2 feels so weird. You can get an S without lap 2 (very rare) but not a P. Just feels kinda wrong. SO IS THE ENDING, NO MUSIC AND HE DOESN'T SAVE THE BOSSES AND MORT. HE LEAVES THEM TO GET OUT THEMSELVES.
Mort doesn't appears in the ending cutscene

It's because some title cards are unfinished
the differences in this build weren't as interesting as i thought they would be, but that makes sense and i kinda set myself up for that one. i do think it's funny that certain things in this build make it clear that some things really were done last minute, like changing the sonic adventure taunt, adding titlecards and jingles for every level, and changing the main synth in bloodsauce dungeon (no wonder the new one sounds so bad). of course there is the occasional secret room that's completely different from final release/later patches and such as well as not all chef tasks being there but again these details aren't that interesting compared to how the game was DRASTICALLY different way back when
Anyone else notice Snotty is the first Cheeseslime in every single level? Look closely at the first cheeseslime you encounter in any level and it is slightly green

Peppbots taking two hits to kill is something that should have stayed, but placed them more sparingly so you can kill them by performing a drift while not going too out of their way to kill them.

wow, that second secret in don't make a sound is interesting. completely scrapped and replaced in the final game, just a pure red light/green light stealth section instead of a speedrunner like the other secrets

In Floor 1 all levels have there Own Tone but in floor 2 it placeholder it the tone is John Gutter but the title Cards are not until golf Level in Floor 3 where the Placeholder is Both of John Gutter Tone and Title Card

The Peppino scream at the beginning of every fight kind of caught me off guard
I can imagine that sense this build was on 0ctober 22nd, this was basically done
I really want to download this.
i like pizzahead's idle in phase 3. i wish that was kept in the game to make it look like pizzahead was at least somewhat serious about his phase, even if it was still just him playing around. his behavior in the release version makes the fight a little anticlimactic because he isn't taking any of it seriously.
it might've also been cool if they took a more noisy approach to the last phase; the noise's constant taunting, dirty tactics, and all around high energy battle made for a climactic fight, even though the ending cutscene was pretty anticlimactic itself. that kind of tone would've made the last pizzahead fight a bit more thrilling, because what we got was pretty low energy, with slow, simple attacks, and pizzahead's uncaring attitude towards the fight, like he really isn't into what he's doing. something like that more focused, challenging idle animation or a more climactic fight overall would've felt pretty good in my opinion.
