    i see the ipr is about 40% someone said this indicates a weak pump... Thanks for the info, i bought some plugs just for this but forgot I had em... all my bal rates are under 1, except for 2 which are about 1.5 and 2.8, number 2 is the worst luckily, i will have to check this asap..

    I just subscribed sir. I'm now convinced I need a scanner. My 07 lbz Is running like shit and Idles high and rough. Definitely feels like a fuel pressure problem. At traffic lights, the truck just wants to go. If I don't hold the brake pedal firmly I'm sure I'll start pushing the cars in front of me. The truck hesitates to pick up speed and you can hear her starving for fuel. The crazy thing is that sometimes she will run very smooth with no problems but most of the time just runs like shit. I ordered a bosch fuel pressure regulator and will be replacing it soon. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

      Buy a 10$ obd2 dongle from ebay..buy torque pro appbbn on your phone it will help scan your truck including balance rates .yes replace your fpr .fuel pressure regulator .using torque pro check your desired and actual fuel pressure should be real close
      If not replace your fpr..

    Thank u very much for maken this video I am haven this same problem on a 05 lly so when u take off the rubber u hose it's the rail side that shouldnt have fuel leaking out

      Yes its a releive valve inside the rail they rarely go bad its always a injector issue in my time on gm duramaxes

      The idea is if the pressure in the fuel rail exceads 27 ,000 psi the fpr fuel pressure releif valve opens and sends the overpresdurized excess fuel out that u shaped hose to the fuel return line to the tank..some guys take the u shaped hose off the rail connect a rubber hose to the rail nipple and put the other end in a bottle or container start the truck and if u have any fuel coming out the fpr or fuel pressure regulator is bad...you do not need to cap the other end of your u shaped hose from the return side ..

    I got chevy express duramax 2009, diesel is not getting from tank to the filters, cranks but does not start, some how diesel is not getting from tank to filters. Thanks for your help.

      Chevy express has a electric lift pump and a filter duramax trucks do not have a electric lift pump..check for pressure at the filter housing ...and turn key on listen for pump to come on under the van ..

      Thanks Mr. Know it all, I couldn't hear any noise where the filters are, but I hear some noise by the battery, passenger corner, I noticed though that there's a diesel leak somewhere coming down the top of engine. Maybe that's why its not starting, but when I recharge batteries and crank it , it started but next day didn't, thanks for all your help.

    I have 2021 Tahoe Duramax
    After a maintenance, I saw the fuel consumption increase a lot and the dealer said they didn’t touch anything else except of some recalls updates.
    What kind of the scanner are you using ?
    Is it possible to modify the fuel consumption by the scanners?
    I see my RPM is higher that what it was previously. Appreciate any feedback

    Hi I have a c4500 truck misfires hard after it drive up a hill or after it wormers up and your drive it it only misfires in drive never in neutral or when its just idling it only has a hard time when driving also I have one that dose the same issue but it don't start unless you spray some starting fluid. any idea where to start?

      Thats the fuel pressure going up using the factory scan tool its normal..i can increase the fuel pump pressure using this scan tool..u can also discconct your electrical.plug going to the cp3 pump .its the fpr fuel pressure regulator pigtail.then use a generic scan tool to view the actual and desired fuel pressure to find your fuel pressure loss..

      I'm using a Generic scanner Zurich ZR13 and I'm reading that show around 6,000 psi in idle
      I just replaced filters one month ago but I just inspect them and they look 40 percent black dirty
      I believe that i will Put new Filters again , clean the fuel tank and change gas station were to get cleaner diesel

    My 06 lbz will throw itself into limp mode when it’s hot and I really lay into it. It also rolls a lot of coal when it’s hot, someone said they had a similar issue and put a cp3 pump in it and now it’s fine. Do you think that’s what it is before I spend the money? Thanks.

    Hello sir! I have a 2005 lly with 102,000 miles and a ppe tune thats been on the truck for about 12 years. It had an issue with stalling about ten seconds after i would start it, the truck seemed to be losing prime because i would have to pump it to get it started. I replaced the fuel filter and the housing cause it was leaking and that problem went away. I recently installed an air dog lift pump and the truck started to surge and lope after driving it. I took it to a shop a few days later and they scanned it and P0670,P0088,P008G popped up.The surge and loping went away the day i took it to the shop and they replaced the glow plug module and they checked the rail pressure and it seemed to be ok. I have been driving it around for about a week and today the truck all of a sudden lost power and the check engine light came back on. I took it back to the shop and it showed low rail pressure, it dropped to 12,000psi. Do you think the lift pump is causing problems with the fuel pressure regulator, or do you think its the injectors? I would appreciate your feedback! Thank You!

      Injectors will not cause surging ..its the fpr fuel pressure regulator..

      @@whocaresaboutme29 Hi Randy, thank you for a quick response, i appreciate it. The engine was only surging the day that i installed the lift pump a few weeks ago and it has not done it since. I took it to a shop a few days later P0088- Fuel Rail pressure too high and P008G- Fuel Pressure Regulator Performance popped up on the scanner. They cleared the codes and i took the truck to a different shop that works on diesels and those codes did not come back. My latest problem now is the truck suddenly lost power and the check engine light came on. I took it back and they scanned it again and it said low Fuel Rail Pressure. It dropped to 12,000 psi. Do you think the lift pump is causing any of these problems or possibly the PPE tuner has gone bad, or should i replace the FPR and all 8 Injectors, or check the balance rates and only replace the bad Injectors? I am moving out of state soon and i will be towing my boat 860 miles, so i need the truck to be 100%. Thank You!!

    How are u sir I'm wondering if u have a recommendation for losing prime on an 07 gmc c4500 topkick with 6.6l duramax. If I prime the fuel filter cannister and start it, it runs no problems. I think I hear the injection pump prime a couple times a min about. I've been trying to fix this forever now.

    Hello sir I have a 07 lbz that is having a few codes pop up p0087 p064c p0090 p0090 p0088. I took it somewhere and they changed the fuel filter housing and it did nothing, I already replaced the FPR and the fue relief valve with a race plug. I hvae replaced a few kinked and broken lines from the fuel system and when you are driving is just smoking black all the time and sometimes it changes to white, the highest injector balance rate is about 3.2 and I have a monitor that shows the desired and actual fuel pressure but actual only goes up to 18k and starts dropping under throttle. Just hit 200k miles

      You need 26k psi ...a loss of 2000 psi from desired to actual sets the dreaded code and limp mode..check your fuel supply also .its never the filter head..its uasually bad injector

    I have a 2006 lbz duramax that causes a limp when its hot only. I can hammer it pretty hard if its cold but once it reaches temp it goes into limp mode. What you think it is? I change fuel filter.

    Hi Randy. Great video. I have an lmm that likes to throw the low fuel rail pressure code while towing and going through a regeneration. Scan tool shows cp3 is hitting 26100psi with no problem. Balance rates look good. Its a stock truck except for a cold air intake. I boight a replacement relief valve that i havent installed yet. Can you point me in the right direction? Thank you

      @@MiguelGarcia-nl3ci it must have had a different tune on it. I had the stock tune put on and it seems to be alright. I wish I had a better answer for you. I probably should put on a lift pump.

    06 lbz if I hammer dfrp calling for 26k afrp getting to 20 if that ... now if I get in the throttle semi hard she’ll pull to 26k d and afrp thinking lift pump time

      randy johnson1972 how would an injector be the issue if it’s only under hard throttle? On a big tune ? In stock for towing I have no issues still thinking air sucking or pick up in tank is cracked I do not believe an injector hense say #1 injector would read -3.1 and say #3 would say 2.8 ....
      Now an hour later 1 and number 3 would be fine 1.0 -1.0 if that then one other would give me an issue ... then that would be ok ... idk I don’t smoke no issue mpg still great .. ... not you have a pump in that truck can whete pick up trucks do not have a pump
      I want to make the purchase in a knock off tech 2

    I'd sure like the chat with ya! I can tell you real diagnostic work, not just a parts changer. I am fighting the dreaded P0087 on an LMM. fuel system will hit and hold 26ksi until about 80% load, then as injector pulse width goes up, the pump just cannot keep up and rail pressure will drop to about 18ksi and eventually throw code. Truck otherwise runs perfect. I highly suspect an injector or two returning too much. We have EFI live but have to pay to borrow a techII. I was considering unplugging the CP3, which should force max pressure, then monitor returns on each injector into a measuring device. Thoughts? Way to contact maybe?

      You need to be able to view the desired and actual fuel rail pressure...you could unplug the cp3 pump and raise the pressure to max..that would work..

      Thanks! Yes, I have been observing desired vs actual FRP, and CP3 duty cycle, but I cannot recall the numbers on the CP3. Do injector balance rates start standing out at max pressure? Would testing actual return volumes be a more confirmed test?
