Mining for Rubies, Sapphires and Rhodolite

Demonstration of how I mine for gemstones at the Cowee Gift Shop and Mason Mountain Mine near Franklin NC. I dig in the native pile that comes straight down from the mine. Typically we find mostly rubies, sapphires and rhodolite with quartz, kyanite and other common gemstones mixed in.

I always find rubies and sapphires there some days are better than others. It is all about how much dirt you can process.
