what is up with that weird top grill part? is it removable? my 720 does not have that. looking to renew. can you clear that for me please? no info to be found about it..
Not sure why Denon designed the top front grill to look like that. I agree, it is a little weird. Not sure if it is removable; I do not have it any longer. Have you tried to contact Sound United or Denon directly? I would think that taking the grill off would leave a gaping hole on the top. Are you dead set on Denon? If not, you may want to look into the IOTAVX SA3 or the Cambridge Audio CXA60.

I just bought the Elac DBR62 as well. How did they do with this integrated Amp? I'm currently between this and the cheaper Cambridge integrated Amp. Thanks.
Eric, the DBR62 speakers do well with more power. Consider picking up an integrated with a little more oomph. If you want to stay in the same price bracket, look at the Emotiva TA-100 integrated or the NAD C 316BEE integrated. You may also look for a preowned Parasound, Rotel, Musical Fidelity, etc.
majk2006 I liked the sound of the Denon when paired with the Polk LSiM703 speakers, the Triangle Audio Borea BR03 speakers, the KEF Q150 speakers, and the ELAC Debut Reference DBR62 speakers. It works well with all of them but it isn’t my favorite integrated amp. I preferred the Cambridge Audio CXA60. The sound was just smoother, providing very good separation between the instruments, and the CXA60 has a few features that the PMA-600NE does not (automatic shut off, replaceable IEC power cord, thermal regulation/protection, an additional set of speaker outputs, and a dedicated set of preamp outputs so you can add a separate amplifier later and use the CXA60 as a preamp).
I am curious to know if the analog mode would allow you to hookup an external dac that would be fed into its aux inputs or will it it still pass through the internal dac for another d/a conversion?
There is a source direct button that bypasses the internal DAC and you can probably use that with a separate external DAC processing the signal. That’s a really good question though.

Yes, the Denon PMA-600NE will drive your Wharfedale Diamond 225 speakers. But, to know whether or not you may want something with more power, how big is your listening room and at what dB levels do you typically listen? If you listen at loud levels in a large room, you’ll likely want more power/muscle. The Cambridge Audio CXA60 or CXA61 may be a good choice. They are available at a discount through the official Cambridge Audio eBay store at reduced prices and feature a 30 day trial with a warranty.

If I realize I would need a little bit more power, what do you think about a stereo receiver? Like the Denon DRA-800H? The only thing is that I heard these receivers have lesser power supplies, but it's rated 100W a channel,... Do you think it would be a better alternative to the PMA-600NE for a bigger room??? The Emotiva integrated amp TA100 is under $500 if you want to stay with a new piece of equipment. If you’re open to owning previously used or dealer demo gear, you can get much more for your $$$. Try to make sure that whatever integrated amp you are looking at provides high current and features a toroidal power supply (the PMA-600NE does not have a toroidal power supply). Used Cambridge Audio CXA60 or CXA80 may be very good options for you as well. Good luck!
Hi Justin, Since this is an integrated amplifier, the preamp and the amp are combined into one package. I don’t believe you can use the integrated as a stand alone amplifier for use with a separate pre amp. You would be spending more money and may be better off with a different integrated altogether. Is there something you don’t like about the way the Denon sounds?
I can say it is very close to the NAD C316BEE and it doesn't have as wide a soundstage presentation as the AXA35. I have not heard the Yamaha integrated amplifiers yet. The NAD is the most powerful of the 3 (PMA-600NE, AXA35, C 316BEE) due to the "power envelope" technology. Also, the NAD & the AXA35 are a more "purist" design/approach with no built-in DAC.
What class is it? Not listed on the Denon site and I need to know this before connecting a Rel subwoofer over high-pass.
