What is a "class spectrum"? "Class," whatever it may be, was used almost synonymously with wealth. The reason why London is so good at being "mongrel" may be related to existence, or presumed existence, of internal ('class') divisions. I am not sensing all that much merging and fusion in the prof, but rather, upper middle class posh. So perhaps this, behold the woman, the ambivalent other within, may provide a focus, aspiration, or common enemy, for all the mongrels? I like the prof's eye-wear. Cassima appears to be practising Buddhism. I would too.
