Everytime she gets groceries she buys extra supplies such as soup, canned goods, shelf stable foods, case of water, extra bags of dog and cat food, cleaning supplies. She has all kinds of camping gear and she makes sure she has butane cylinders for stove, batteries for lamterns and radio, gas for her generator-to run fridge and freezer. She preps a little at a time between October and June. If one spends an extra 5 to 10 dollars and stocks up one should be fine for a week or so. I do the stock up, during summer months, because I live in a snow belt area in the northeast part of the states.
