I was thinking when I was a teenager in the late 70s early 80s and every weekend me and my friends went skating. It was so much fun! I’m not sure what happened over the years but its hard to even find a skating rink and even the drive inn movie theaters are gone. I wish every town had a skating rink so people could get out of the house instead of playing video games etc so cool seeing all these skaters 💟✌️every town definitely needs a skating rink!!

Awww, man. That's true. Alot of our rinks have closed, but what you see here is skaters that traveled from all over the nation to skate at an event in ATL. If you haven't seen the documentary United Skates on HBO, take a look.

Not like any roller rink w/skaters I ever experienced in my life. I grew up in the Midwest hanging out in the few roller rinks we had in our town. This is a beautiful explosion of pure talent, music, movement, color, balance, and teamwork - wow!

I didn’t even know people my age (25) would be at the skating rink because I assumed they were all at the club. In my hometown we had one called Leo’s Rollerink but it’s been closed for over 15+ years now all we have is skate galaxy. This makes me so happy & want to give skating a try.
I just bought some skates 2 weeks ago, put some light up wheels on them 😂 and took some free lessons at my local rink...went to adult night and was out there skating! Give it go! 🛼😁🙌🏾

Wow! The knees!! Yes! I’m so proud of our people who are getting this exercise and strengthening. Our black young men and ladies skating is keeping them strong and fit. If you can skate…. NEVER STOP!! The knees!! I mean going all the way down to the floor! Having fun and socializing🎉! This is so healthy. My mother used to take me to… I think it was called…the Savoy Skating Rink in Chicago back in the 70’s and She Skated too!! This is a strong part of the black culture. Keep it up! Love it!!

Kind of interesting to see the skating style we had in 79-82 is still around. My Riedell's live on, passed down to a new generation.
As a beginner skater, my nerves are bad watching this lol. All them flips, tricks and people around me would have my knees shaking and me on the ground chillle please. 😂 Beautiful people and talent nonetheless!❤
I'm 68 years of age and lately I have been really intrigued with the Skating Movement! It's amazing the how these young adults move to the music 🎶🎶🎶🎶!😁😍 I love it! Just if I had some cash to open up a state of the art skating rink......I would do it!😁🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

The even more interesting thing is that we are never skating to the actual songs you hear. After we're captured, the amazing videographers then score us to music of our skate producers (like my hubby) and many others to put us all on the same accord. ❤️🙏🏾

I wish rinks were like this in PA. I grew up roller skating, and even worked at my local skating rink as a teen, but the vibe was never cool like this. There’s still a ton of people with crazy style here, but i’d love to skate somewhere that everyone feels like family like this. 👍🏻
This event is a National Skate Party called JiveBiscuit Skate Family Reunion, so it's great that you get the family feel from this video. Skaters have traveled from all over the nation, so the skaters you see aren't all from ATL. That is just where the event was held. We travel nationally and internationally to do this. 🙏🏾
