To the applause of numerous employees, he takes off his company ID, says his goodbyes and leaves the company for the very last time. And the Marketing Agency which created this amazing ad. deserves every Euro you paid for. Brilliant!
Do they though? First of all this is general marketing. It says nothing about you the viewer and they cant even measure what good came from this shor ad. They have no metrics for that. Second it, differently from direct response advertising, it as no call to action. It doesnt invite you to try or see the car. So this is money burned for nothing. If they could have KPI for this, they would fire the marketing guy within 24 hours. Google David Olgivy and you will see what real marketing is!

Top companies invest a sizeable chunk out of their marketing spends just for brand building. Because it’s complementary to direct marketing efforts. Aber versuch das ganze mal aus ner faktischen Perspektive zu sehen.
Wer entwickelt denn letztendlich die ganzen Autos, egal ob BMW, Mercedes oder Audi?: Mitabeiter.
Und BMW sowie Mercedes hat genauso qualifizierte Arbeiter, die die Autos letztendlich entwickeln, wie Audi auch, also kann es doch faktisch gesehen keinen großen Unterschied geben.
Das ist genauso wie die Leute, die meinen, VW könnte keine Sportwagen bauen, nur weil sie's sonst nicht tuen. VW müsste einfach nur die richtigen Leute ans Werk lassen und schon können die auch Sportwagen bauen.
Das hat also fast gar nichts mit dem zu tun, was die Marke ausmacht.
Also im Endeffekt merkt man vielleicht, dass es echt keinen so riesigen Unterschied geben kann.
Kleine vielleicht, da manche Mitarbeiter innovativer sind als andere, aber das war's dann auch schon wieder.
Oder kannst du mir erklären, warum die Mitarbeiter bei Mercedes oder BMW achtzig mal besser sein sollten, als jene, bei anderen Milliarden Unternehmen?

Sushanth Ramesh 100%, at this point in time these names mean so much, when you drive any of these cars, you are driving a piece of automotive history. A BMW or Mercedes from the 1980s is on another planet compared to a Toyota or Honda or Ford from that same time period. Think of the first generation 8 series for example, a 90s car, but to this day not many manufacturers have really topped it, not even BMW themselves. Just imagine riding in an 8 series or S Class in the 80s, must’ve been an unbelievable experience at the time. People forget, these German manufacturers truly set a standard for automobiles. Even the Japanese took notes from them.

This is an awesome example of friendship between rivals! This is what all brands (and not just car brands) should be.
I remember a two sided ad in the German magazine "auto motor und sport". It was the 100th anniversary of the automobile, and it was a mercedes-star made from candles, and a thank you note. The ad was from BMW, and a two-sided ad in ams is not cheap. It is things like that which make the whole industry more human, nicer.... more believable.
