  • ArcelorMittal's project in Liberia has come a long way since 2005, when we signed a mineral development agreement with the Liberian Government. To find out how we are working towards achieving our target of 15 million tonnes by 2015, watch this video.

My Liberian friends and I aided in the reconstruction of the mine and I lived in Yekepa. Wonderful people and a great job! Thank you Liberia and thank you ArcelorMittal.

During FY2014/2015 the Ministry of Lands and Mines received $52.34 million U.S. from mining concessionaires of which ArcelorMittal is the predominant operator in the country. So, the suggestion that they are somehow complicit in theft is unsubstantiated

The more advanced countries have been depleting the continent for centuries. Africans been allowing this the same way they allowed selling of their people to the more advanced countries. Perhaps heavy industry isn’t possible but small countries should demand that light industry should be developed in countries so that resources are just not a one way affair. What’s going to happen when all the mines and forest depleted?
