  • THIS is the low-premium coin my Gold and Silver Bullion Dealer says to stack! In this video Tim explains why you need to be stacking these circulated gold coins. These are the low-premium coins I’m stacking now! As Tim says, there's no good reason NOT to buy them! They're not always in perfect condition, but they're the precious metal my bullion dealer says you should grab now. Higher grade Pre-33 gold coins command a higher price as do the Indian Head and St. Gaudens, and most graded gold collector coins with key dates. However, most of the circulated Liberty gold coins aren't that far off of the spot price of gold and that's why I'm now stacking constitutional gold! $10 gold pieces are 96.75% of a troy ounce of gold. Each $20 gold coin is also 96.75% of a troy ounce. Constitutional silver and gold needed something mixed with their precious metals because silver and gold are soft.
    As Tim says, if you're a stacker then stack this gold coin!

    I’ve been a numismatic collector since my dad got me into it in 1964. We both became stackers years later. He and I both loved the St. Gaudens double eagles because they are so artistically beautiful. In my opinion the Morgan silver dollars are as well. A fellow who was a friend of a local coin dealer got us interested in old U. S. paper currency for a time. My dad had an uncirculated set of the so-called ‘educational series’ which was highly desirable because of the notes’ incredible artistic beauty. He also had an uncirculated $1000 bill and an uncirculated $500 bill. Most of his collection was sold at a Heritage auction in the early 2000’s. He passed in 2011. He also had a 1909-S VDB cent which graded at MS-65 red.

      I carefully examine all Gold coins, even from reputable dealers. Sometimes even they fooled or bought from a trusted source. If there is any doubt bring out high power glass and check carefully. If you suspect anything wrong, show the dealer. 99% of coin dealers will know a fake by just looking at it. But as they get better, educate yourself. I was offered an 1834 $5 Classic Head once, and I declined and told the dealer why. He agreed. He later sent it in and it was returned genuine. We both learned something.

    I like the circulated stuff, silver or gold. My grandmother got me started when I was young(over 50 years ago). She used silver dollars to line the bottom of her pan when she cooked apple butter. It kept it from sticking was what she told me. She had an old check box full and I was fascinated by them, even when I was very young. I got a few pieces after she died, even though she promised me all of them. My uncle got most of them before I had a chance.

    So the question is: How easy are those to sell? How much will the coin shop give for them? The key number to keep track of is not the premium, but rather the spread between what a dealer will sell it to you vs what they will pay you for it.

    • @amels4620
      @amels4620 Před 2 lety +1

      Caleb good point.
      I just got into gold and silver stacking back in Jan 2021. What astounded me then and now is
      1. The Spot Price
      2. The various mark ups premiums on gold and silver by the ever smiling Dealer(s) nationwide.
      3. The buy back rip off by those ever smiling Dealer(s).
      The Dealer(s) are part of the problem, I have a sinking feeling that I will never get a fair return on my metals if the day comes that I need to sale.
      Bartering between trustful citizens may be our way to cut out those ever smiling Dealer(s).
      *I do not buy precious metals from Amazon or Ebay.

    Some of the quarter eagle years have low mintages, and the same goes for the three dollar gold coins, so I got some of those (Was able to find the #2 and #3 rarity with the $3 coins). I also got the $1, $5, $10 as types, and the 1908 st gaudens no motto.

    Back when gold was around $1800 I missed out on a Mexican gold coin at the coin shop price at $1750. A year after it was gone, I found out the centennial Mexican gold coin was 37.5 grams of pure gold- as it says on the coin, and around 41.6 grams total weight. Close to 1.21 troy ounces of gold. Mexican coins are much better, much more beautiful than anything minted in the US.
