it's actually common that voice actors forget exactly how to do a characters voice when they haven't done it for a while. joel's voice probably sounds a little diff in the sequel or he simply just wasn't in character and has to be more into it in order to sound more like joel. cause he was casually doing joel's voice here ya know? not trying too hard.

I don't get it.. why isn't this guy getting more mainstream acting jobs? he really does deserve it and is a fantastic actor.
Well he finds his way into the credits of every game, basically the Samuel Jackson of gaming, he's mainstream enough.
He may seem like he needs that hollywood break, but the gaming industry already got him! He is one of the 'It' guys! Plus hollywood actors now are going to gaming industry to act :)
In a podcast he did, can't remember what it was called, but last I checked it was on iTunes, he states that voice acting allows him a vastly wider range of roles than television or film.
Can't remember the name of the podcast but I think it was mainly Final Fantasy themed and they've had numerous voice actors as guests, including Laura Bailey, Ali Hillis, Nolan North and Robert Clotworthy.
Troy and Laura actually appear in the same episode and talk about how they love playing Saints Row.
Edit: The Podcast is either FF Union or Nerdist, now that I think about it I'm pretty sure it's the latter.

Quite a few of the games he's been in have been multi platform. He's not PlayStation exclusive
FC 4, Advanced Warfare and many other games he voiced on are also on Xbox so...yeah.
Ruben Makaya he has recently entered a contract with sony, so we can expect to see more of him on playstation and less on xbone
