I've lost my dad to brain cancer and today this song still helps me understand that I have always been loved by a special angel called my dad. I just wanted my dad to sing me his night time lullaby that always soothed me but I will never hear his voice ever again until we meet in heaven. Yes depression is a slippery slope I'm going through it we have to find the strength to beat our burdens that we bear.

As someone who nearly lost my grandad, twice, this hits hard. I remember hearing how my grandad had to be kept in hospital on October, how they didn't have high hopes for him surviving his operation and I just broke down crying when I played this song. Thankfully he's still with us and a fighter. My heart to all those who have lost a loved one, and to those that are fighters.
Pro green deserves to be as big as drake/kendrick lamar. He's such a good rapper and is better than most rappers these days. Love it when he brings out a deep song! :)

I really think everyone should leave Professor Green alone. He's trying to open up about his Dad's suicide. Celebrities are people too, imagine if you're Dad had passed away and you wrote a song pouring your heart out about it and this was peoples response. I for one give him credit. It's not easy to make yourself that vulnerable. Have some respect.

I was thinking about two people while listening to this: my dear, loving grandpa, who sadly passed away too quickly, in just some weeks, and my best friend who moved to London a few days ago and I'm still trying to figure out how to spend my days without her, who to text when I'm bored or happy or sad!
And I know this is not the point but the thought of her, uploading photos with her new best friends, and writing lovely things about them on the caption, kills me! Because I'll think: "that used to be me"!
I had a best friend before her, and she also moved, to America! And I thought , this time, it'll work and that she was always going to be with me, and maybe someday we'd be walking our kids to school together!

When she woke up she was healed! The doctors were left speechless! Or a boy, with a heart disease, also incurable, had had three big attacks, the first one when he was four and when they sent him to the hospital, while on a wheelchair, he was telling his mother about "the light on the ceiling" and he felt a warm kind of happiness he had never felt before, thought there was no light on the ceiling! Than one week before making a video about this, he had his third attack and he found himself in a "white room" like a waiting room, with no walls or boundaries and he saw the same light and experienced the same pure happiness! He met his favourite rapper who sang his favourite song(one of the rapper's songs) in which there was a quote about life(very similar to his case) and he told him to go, because his time had not come yet! At that moment he woke up in the hospital surrounded by his family! A few days later he was talking to his bff and telling her how sad he was to have left that place! A week after the video was uploaded he died, but went to heaven!
I went this far to say that you will meet him someday and he is truly in a better place! That said, I wish you a very very happy and long life and don't forget to make the best of it and show the best of you in every single moment of it! ❤️

Damn this is powerful. I normally hate rap, but I gotta say I love this guy. Came across his music a few days ago, and have been listening almost non stop. My father died two and a half years ago, and since then I had really gone down hill. Insomnia, night terrors if I manged to sleep, anger and guilt that ate me up from the inside out. We had a rough relationship at the time of his death, so I felt like that really contributed to how hard I took it. Nothing is worse than your parent dying thinking their kid couldn't stand them, and the guilt of that really took it's toll. It took me years to find peace, and this song really, in my opinion, showcases the thoughts and emotions felt by someone losing their parent to something preventable, or anything at all. This is a deep message with real emotion, and is a real cut above most other rap songs.

I totally get where your coming from and I feel for you I really do man, I know what it’s like cos I lost my dad 8 years ago when I was 13 and since then never really coped or got over it tbh, still trying now it’s so shitty growing up not having a chance to get to know your dad and when your in your teens getting on in life he’s dead by the time your 15 and that, itself just completely destroys you and kills you, turns your life upside down for the rest of your life no one will understand it what it’s like but we do I do. My nan died of cancer after a long fight of cancer.. It makes me mad that my sister won't even remember who she was, and she used to even walk around nans house thinking she and nan are still playing hide and seek although nan wasn't there at all.. I have immense respect for him, especially since he has talked (and rapped) about things he has gone through.
Whilst personally I can't relate to what his Dad did, I can still relate to a lot of the song/rap - particularly about handling depression etc.
It's an outstanding song which always brings a tear to my eye.
This song makes you look at family differently, anytime you can lose someone and it's going to be painful, especially having being with you growing up and looking after you....But you gotta remember, everyone dies so you just have to live on until it's your turn :(

I came here because of Tori Kelly, because I'm a fan of hers. BUT unlike many other people I am open to any other artists, and I was quite impressed with Professor Green. He's pretty unknown over here, but I can understand him just fine. Both great artists, and I love the meaning of the song.

Always remember that no matter how bad things maybe or how little to always keep your loved ones close no one knows how long they have. Green was devastated losing his Dad and having to identify him but his Dad saved his life cause at age 16 all the way to 24 Green took drugs but stopped to process his dad death fully. No matter how many times I watch this, I still cry, because the lyrics and the story is so heart felt! I don't care if you don't like Professor Green, or if you prefer Tori, the main thing here is that Professor Green has chosen to tell his story through rap, even if he knows that it might make him an easy target to trolls or criticism. But thanks to him, I think that many people listening can finally understand what all of their feelings mean when they're put into words, because when you've lost someone, or when you're going through a tough time in your life, it is difficult to put all of your emotions into proper sentences, and when you do, they might not even make sense! I love Pro's lyrics, as well as his and Tori's voices. It makes me think of those that I've lost who I've needed so much but haven't been able to go to. This is such a gorgeous song and I have so much respect for these two wonderful artists!
in 2011 my mum had a critical liver transplant and only just survived. iv never realised how incredible it is and I want to change my ways b4 its to late as my mum could fall critically ill at any point and I need to cherish every moment I have with her. thi king also about if I lost my dad.gosh this song really changed me xx :-(

I've lost a few close family members which has hurt, but losing your parents has got to be one of the worst things that could happen. Lost my dad 6 months ago. This song hits hard. He was always there for me and brought me and my 5 brothers up while are so called mother dumped us. Not only that he had a really bad heart condition.

Just because many Americans can't understand English rap, they shouldn't judge Pro Green, listen to the lyrics properly, a very deep, meaningful song.
Maybe because I'm from East london I understand it more but this is perfect from both artists.
All you people complaining about his rapping maybe if you actually listened to what he was saying you would understand, the song is about his grandmother who brought him up and died while he was 13 and the video is showing a similar thing and his rap is about that so before you start complaining maybe try and understand music properly because it's obviously something that means a lot to him!

Been reading some of the comments on here and would just like to say you need to understand song meanings before you slate them. For myself this song hits the nail on the head, I feel the same every day and believe I have tried hard to better my life but every step I take forward someone will push me back five. Living with a disability is hard but losing everyone that you loved and count on in this life
Is the hardest thing of all. Knowing every day will be no better than the last is probably one of the worst feelings you can have. It's songs like this that keep people going and for that I thank the singers. Listen to the words more and understand the meaning and you will find this song will grow on you.

In response to all the american's hating on Pro Green...its his song, not Tori's!! And for the record he is infact talking about depression as a whole which is a very serious issue that a lot of people suffer with all over the world. And hes also talking quite open about his own personal feelings about how he still struggles with his dads death...i think you should stop comparing him to Eminem. I went to see Eminem as i am a big fan at wembley stadium earlier this year...and half the time he was miming to a pre recorded live version of what ever song he was doing...i paid gd money and he short changed the stadium of fans. Oh and for the record STAN would never of been the hit it was without our very own British artist DIDO!!!
