    My friend always stood first in the class presentations,although during discussion, tough questions are asked but he never confused and always think on his feet and left the audience awestruck,I must say he is as bright as a button,but I sometimes presume that this characteristic is God gifted and runs in his family.

    To put your foot in it = saying something accidentally that upset/embarrass
    Two peas in a pod = they are very similar
    Chalk and cheese = very different
    Come rain and shine = at any time, no matter what happens
    Nothing ventured, nothing gained = no risk no gain
    There’s a will, there is a way
    To be a loose canon = saying things without a proper thought
    Runs in the family = characteristics of the most people in that family
    As bright as a button = very clever/intelligent
    To think on your foot = to think quickly and improvise
    A bosom friend = a close friend
    To go back in a long way = to be known for a long time
    To know someone like the back of your hand = to know someone very well
    To hit it off = to get on/get along very well
    To see eye to eye = to agree
    A mon after your own heart = think in a similar way
    To be second to none = to be the best
    To go out on a limb = to take a risk to do something right
    To be highly strung = get nervous and easily upset
    To be known it all = someone who thinks they know everything
    To suffer fools gladly =doesn’t enjoy/being strick with stupid people
    A ton of bricks = punish severely
    To be set in your ways = to not like change

    My brother is as bright as a button, he can speak 3 languages at the age of 7.
    My father was an entrepreneur when he was young. And I myslef also like running my own business. I think the entrpreneurial spirit runs in my family.

    It is said that "get carried away" means "to become so excited or involved in something that you lose control of your feelings or behaviour". But in your example it's different. I am confused
