@@dieseldawg7132 Hi Alavaro Nino! they are two different things, the special modules I showed on the video like the videoscope is a feature that you can buy separately. The updates are separate from the special modules like the videoscope. The main use for the updates is for the car modules (say for example a new vehicle comes out that didn't exist and you wanted to access it with dealer level scan tool functionality). But unless you are working on a shop environment encountering new cars all the times, I would probably save money by not renewing the subscription or maybe updating it only once in a while but even then I would only do it, if I had to work on a new vehicle that didn't previously exist and was not covered by the scanner at the time of it's last update, otherwise I would be paying for updates that I really won't be using or need. Another way a viewer suggested to reduce cost is to program keys for people using the scanner, that service is expensive at the dealer maybe an easy way to recoup some $ and I do have a video coming up on key programming, stay tuned for that one!
I am looking to use the x431 v4 to turn off the seat belt ding, as well as turn off open sliding door ding, and leave back up camer on. How do i do this? 2019 mercedes sprinter
My first comment is below to Robert Maggil. Basically I said dont bother with this scanner. After owning a Launch X431 Pro for two years, I am still struggling with its half baked files. Yesterday my irritation boiled over; I needed to code new injectors in a Mitsubishi Triton ML diesel. A common enough vehicle! But as usual Launch reads the original codes ok, then tells me my new codes "are out of range". Ive been here before with other makes. You need to get the file updated when and if Launch Tech's get around to it. Meanwhile, my clients think I'm the clown, not Launch. Last year, I got promises for an urgent Subaru update; over several months, I did eventually get to code the code injectors, but I eventually gave up and the file remains a mash of petrol and diesel data that is useless to the workshop.
Could be used without subscription with all functions?

I recently purchased a Launch X431 Pros V for use on a 2021 Iveco Daily 50-180 Euro 6. Would you have video on scheduled servicing reset of vehicle service light and zeroing the DPF regeneration counter.
Hi Tony! I don't have access to an Iveco, I'm actually thinking it may not even be available here in the US, we are limited on our selection unfortunately :( But yeah the process is pretty close if not identical to how it is described on the service manual for your vehicle. The X431 emulates the dealer level tool functionality so as long as you follow the service manual you should be ok. @@AlexAutoFun Very disappointed with this tool thus far: I contacted Launch Tech USA only to find out that my tool is not a Launch USA unit, but a global one. They even told me that Launch USA does not sell on eBay nor on Amazon. They sell through dealers such as NAPA, Autozone and the like. Don’t get me wrong, my tool IS authentic, it’s just a global version of Launch. I could be doing something wrong or something. Like I mentioned before, “there’s a huge learning curve with this tool. Again, I could be doing something wrong. This tool has failed me time and time again. Doesn’t even register batteries. Smdh, like, WTH?! Sadly, I overshot my PONR on the warranty. I should’ve went with Autel like I had originally intended. If you find out something on Launch Global, please inform us.

Exactly, to reprogram your cvt transmission after replacing it, the dealership will charge 500 plus the cost of towing the car to the dealership will set you back minimum 600-700 dollars with that money you can buy the x431 pro mini that has the ip chara learn transmission programming function which is very simple to do, just scan the qr code on your new transmission and it will do it for you.

Hello, do I have to use Xprog3 to add an additional keyless fob?
Hi Ricardo! this will depend on the car model, year, how many keys you have, if you are programming a new keyfob or a used etc. But typically the Xprog3 is only needed if you are trying to program a used key fob where you need to make it "virgin" again by resetting it before programming it with the X431 or if you are trying to clone a key outside of the vehicle (locksmith level functions). Hi Jason! there is, the Add On it's called Scope Box, however I don't see it often as you can buy a very nice dedicated oscilloscope for the money. But I know some people do like the add on and don't mind carrying around a second case with the scope. Hope this helps and thanks for watching bud!

Cant find reductant fluid warning bay test whars up? Cant clear limp mmode wiithhoutt it.
Hi Mark! I'm not familiar with diesel vehicles but typically reductant functions are found under the normal diagnostics menu (either local or intelligent diagnostics) under PCM or ECM then under functions. Also depending on your vehicle make and model check in the service functions (where I normally also see DPF Regen) just to make sure it's not there (remember the X431 is emulating the factory service tool and seems different brands have the functions in different places) If you still can't find the option your are looking for contact Launch directly, I'm sure they can walk you thru the menu and functions (while you are still covered by warranty support, I haven't tried to contact them after support ends) Hope this helps and please let us know what you find bud!

Hi Victor, correct this unit is able to access TMPS sensor programming (depending on your vehicle you may or may not need the additional TPMS wand) Same with the programming key, it can do it (you may need the key programmer add on if you are a locksmith and want to do advanced functions like reset a used remote or as some people call it, make it virgin again). Hi Pete! Depends, remember this scanners are sold with several yrs of warranty (depending on what package was purchased) so if it's still within the year of updates bought yes you can update it. Without the updates the scanner can still read new car models that did not exist even if you choose not to updated it as long as that future vehicle uses one of the standard OBD2 protocols the industry has agreed on. However Launch accepts Vin numbers, which is the best way to confirm if the scanner can do the function you need, they can check and confirm if the scanner will support it or suggest if a different tool model is needed. Hi yusriismail! are you referring to ABS? this would depend the vehicle your are trouble shooting, some car do have sensors that can be monitored (and recorded) and some do not have this level of monitoring. Similar to the reset and actuation functions, this all depends on the vehicle being tested if it supports that function or not (basically the older the car, the less sensors and functions It will have via a bi-directional scanner) hope this helps!
Will this definitely be good for my Calibra 96 please , it will fit , it has the correct adaptor for my car , they are hard to find , mechanics want a lot of money just to plug it in . Hi Audra! ah I wish I knew cooking! lol yes this is the top of the line scan tool that is available for mechanics, it's not cheap but it will definitely pay it self back over time. Here is another video where I show you an overview of all of its functions czcams.com/video/mNPxEgbZuVY/video.html but I would recommend you start with a basic troubleshooting (without a scanner) first and once all those options have been exhausted, then trying a scanner. Hopefully that video will give you an idea if this is a tool that you think you can learn to use or if you want to troubleshoot your vehicle first with normal steps that don't require a scanner (video on this coming, stay tuned). I would strongly recommend to buy from an approved dealer such as their Amazon store (link to it on the video description). If buying from an unapproved source you risk receiving a counterfeit one or not having warranty coverage. Hi Tony! This scanner does supports VIN programming (you can see the vehicle coverage at the 6:45 mark). Launch also accepts Vin numbers if you like for them to confirm if the scanner will be able to access your particular vehicle model or if a separate tool will be needed (programming is complex process that varies from car to car). Hi ! It 's me again ) After a few days spent on the Internet, I still saw the differences between x431 v v4.0 and x431 pro v 4.0. This is the difference in the ability to connect an additional prog x3 unit and the ability to program on someone with the "pro" prefix, the actual question is: will x431 v v4.0 work normally and adequately without the Internet, and after the 2-year update is over? And won 't he demand to pay for something ?
Hi Lionel! that is a good question, while I managed to used mine offline for basic diagnostics some of the advanced functions requiring accessing the online VIN database may need the internet. Regarding the updates, the scanner should continue to work once the updates expire if you choose not to renew them. Hope this helps, Cheers!

The price varies and changes often depending on how many years you want to renew for (sometimes also based on your location) if they have a sale at the time you want to renew or not, or if they have a coupon going on. Can you program Qashqai J11 key?
Hi Anaye's club! This will depend on how many keys you have, if your car requires a pin code, if you are programming a new key fob or a used one etc. But this scan tool does support Nissan vehicles (and their dealer lever sub functions including key fob programming) you can see it at the 6:45 mark. Now in some cases the Xprog3 add on will also be needed if you are trying to program a used key fob where you need to make it "virgin" again by resetting it before programming it with the X431 or if you are trying to clone a key outside of the vehicle (and other locksmith level functions). I just returned my Ancel V6 because the bi-directional functions did not work on most vehicles. Can anyone verify that this actually does things like turning windshield wipers and headlights on and off ? How much is the yearly fee for updates after the free period? Does this charge you to unlock special functions like the. Think diag brand? The scan tool brands are very unclear in their advertising and mislead many people it makes it really hard to narrow down a good choice
Hi Micah! ah yes the Ancel V6 is very limited (only 15 service functions. However I have not seen a scanner that can turn on windshield wipers or headlights. These scanners enable service functions not the actual components such as wipers. For component testing you would one of this one instead czcams.com/video/enKglsvdIlo/video.html (this can turn on headlights and wipers). There are additional functions you can buy you can take a look here amzn.to/2ZThsyQ on the 4th picture down you can see what they are. But they are not modules like the Thinkdiag, where everything is piece meal, the add-ons for the X431 are full complete systems that can add capabilities that the X431 alone does not have like the oscilloscope function. I would love to buy a bidirectional OBD scanner, just very hard for me to justify the purchase. I currently use a OBDlink LX which is very reliable, but no ability to scan the vast amount of computers that are in a car.

For me what pushed me to buy the Launch was the need for an extra key for my newer car, dealer wanted almost $500 bucks! so I figure I put that money towards the X431 and program a new key with it, so it may make sense till you have the need for it to purchase it that way you can defer some cost. Thanks Lisa! ah yes good question, typically I buy directly from the Manufacturer's store within Amazon (Manufacturers use Amazon as a selling portal) so warranty and support is provided by the manufacturer as normal. Now if you are asking about other generic stuff you are buying from Amazon, you can check out the warranty and support for any item, if you scroll all the way to the bottom when looking at their listing. Can I program tpms with it
Hi! Yes it does have TPMS support (you can see that icon on the menu and the scanner came with the EL-50448 TPMS Activation Tool). However remember some functions of TPMS depending on the sensor being used, car model, year etc will need the add on wand TSGUN here amzn.to/47EDqDZ And if you like to confirm if you will need the wand, Launch accepts VIN numbers so they can confirm if you will be able to access the function you need without the wand or if the wand will be needed. launch x431 v pro how to read the key code on a citroen c5 mk1 with it
Hi Davor! you would want to follow the same steps as identified in the factory service manual for the Citroen C5 MK1 (typically IMMO functions are found in the BCM sometimes in the PCM/ECM and a some times in their own dedicated IMMO module) You can also try to access the IMMO function of your vehicle directly by using the "Service Function" then "Immobilizer Reset" or the "IMMO Prog" module but again I recommend referring to the instructions on your service manual to confirm the process is done correctly. If buying from an unapproved source you risk receiving a counterfeit one or not having warranty coverage. Regarding Mazda, Ford, Holden, diagnostic software, remember aftermarket Bi-Directional scan tools do not use the original software from the car makes, because as you pointed it out, it's normally not licensed for use outside of the dealer. Bi-Directional scanners instead use their own software to emulate the original dealer software. Hope this helps, Cheers!

Hi Mate, I have a small workshop in Oz. I bought the Launch X431V pro on Ebay about 2 years ago. It promised everything on Earth but delivered far less. Too often a certain function was not available for the vehicle I was working on. I did get replies from Launch Techs but their updated files usually arrived too late or not at all, so I occasionally used a high-end scanner in a friend's workshop. This Launch is going to be even less useful and way overpriced for some Joe with just a couple of cars. Moreover, you need some skill to understand the functions and to actually perform repairs. My advice is buy some cheap OBD11 scanner that reads fault codes and /or make friends with an experienced mechanic.🙃

This will heavily depend on the type of key your are trying to add to the car (if the key is virgin or not, the year and model of the car etc.) Launch does accept vin numbers so they can confirm it the scanner will do the function you need or suggest a different one. The X431 does support IMMO but as mention earlier the ability to add a key to your car will depend on the type of key (there are different transponders and frequencies), the year and model of the car etc. Some cars do allow you to reuse non virgin keys and other cars won't (this can be bypassed by a dedicated IMMO tool that can make a key virgin again) Hope this helps, Cheers!

I had one of these compatibility sucked on the car models I had so I returned it. I know compatibility varies a lot and some tools brands are just better for some makes than others but I just couldn't get passed that a 700$ tool couldn't even read some basic codes on my cars when a 50$ tool can. Again not to knock the tool Im sure when supported and from what I saw hundreds of cars are it's a great tool but it sucks to spend all that money and find tool can't even read codes...

It depends heavily on which of the X-431 models your are renewing (there are several levels of it), if it's a USA version or international version, how long want it renew it for and if they had any sales of coupons going on. So it varies quite a bit but you can check on their website for actual prices if you want, also compare their prices to say a Snap-On, you will see Launch is more affordable both in upfront cost and subscription updates if you choose to continue them after yours expire. What are the downsides to owning this with US brands.
Hi X! I think the downsides of non US brands are very similar across product types. For example, let say you wanted to talked to a person on the phone, you will probably have a harder time with a non US brand since they are on a different time zone and sometimes there is also a language barrier (but even then some companies in the US are just as hard to reach now since few actually have live people you can talk to without crazy long wait times) Same with in person support, for US brands there is likely a physical store you can visit (or in the case of Snap-On or like, a traveling sales person or sales truck) that you can physically talk to and interact with. US brands also I think have the upper hand if you are looking to use this in a class/tech school environment. Most of the time for academic purposes US brands are used (or whichever brand is the largest market shareholder, which I would imagine for this type of product it would be a US brand) Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

@@user-fn4co4cw1q I think is hard to beat the Launch X431 for the cost to features ratio. It covers pretty much all the makes (specially JDM and other imported brands) which is why I went with this one over the traditional brands we see like Spap-On, just got a lot more for my money. But it think it's also going to come to preference, if your experience has been with a particular brand, some of the wording used will be different, not a substantial leaning curve but more like using an iPhone or Android phone, similar concept but things are in different places and I think some people just to stick to what they know so in that case I would say to stay with the brand you are already have experience with. Hi Alavaro! yeah Bidirectional tools have a much higher cost than normal scanners and are not for everyone (as I explained in the video) However the scanner will continue to work once the updates expire if you choose not to renew them. The main use for the updates is for the car modules (say for example a new vehicle comes out that didn't exist and you wanted to access it with dealer level scan tool functionality). But unless you are working on a shop environment encountering new cars all the times, I would probably save money by not renewing the subscription or maybe updating it only once in a while but even then I would only do it, if I had to work on a new vehicle that didn't previously exist and was not covered by the scanner at the time of it's last update, otherwise I would be paying for updates that I really won't be using or need.
