Produced from 2008-2012 inclusive. North America only got them 09-12 inclusive. Approx 10,150 total production but several thousand were shipped to both racers for the various cup series as well as Euro dealers. Not all that many in America. I own 4 of them and they're wonderful bikes. And they are NOT Sportsters!!!!!!!
Nice Video!
i traded a 2017 africa twin with 10,000 hard miles on it worth $6000 trade value even up no cash no tax for my 2009 mirage orange xr1200 with 15,000 miles on it ..made the trade at Williamsport Pennsylvania Honda shop August 20, last year. My first test took me 60 miles west of Indianapolis that was over 800 miles first ride. Not one problem. no leakage of any floods or oil. Oil level is still topped off when I got home and it hasn't used to drop since. I take it to my local Harley shop and we put a TTS tune Screamin Eagle 10 mm spark plug wires in Orange of course new spark plugs on it it has the D&D mufflers and makes 82 horsepower at 6500 rpm at the rear tire and 79 foot pounds of torque at 3500 RPM and Flatline all the way to 7500 RPM. When I traded for the bike it had a set of road course racing slicks front and rear this bike was used mostly for track work. When I got home the tires were pretty thin with a flat spot in the center that wasn't there on the rear. I bought an oversized tires with a 200 on the back and a 130 on the front installed a new new set of ohlins' piggyback gas shocks on the back a new Rider replacement gel seat quarter race fairing on the front with a chin spoiler on the lower down tubes that all bolted on and I bought a Harley-Davidson service manual that covers both the XLS and the XR and there is not one part that interchanges the XRS have a thermostat built into the block as they are oil-cooled like the new Milwaukee eight as the oil coolers are mandatory and not an accessory there are oil Jets to cool the Pistons internally. These engines are built to race and do a very good job of it. My friend has a Triumph Tiger 955i and on a roll on my XR 1200 will stay with it. And on a gravel road it handles much better than a crf1000 Africa twin. And I love the Harley-Davidson rear sets as they put you in the right position for high-speed turns on pavement and not a problem on dirt
I’m about to follow in your footsteps. It will be my first Harley after 30 years of riding sportbikes.
82 at the rear? My has 90 at the rear. I have the dyno sheet to prove it. I have the Bassani 2 into 1. That makes a few more HP. Plus the Power Commander. I recently switched to the Thundermax because of heat issues. That probably added a couple of extra HP. It runs phenomenal.
Just got mine. This what Sportsters should be
Sir: They are NOT sportsters even though it's cast into the cam chest cover. That was done for XR750 nostalgia purposes.
@@frankcastle5294 lol whaaaaaaa Harley calls them a Sportster, the owners manual is a Sportster manual
@@rugershooter5268 I'm retired from Harley Davidson. I own 4 XR's. I realize all that. These are not sportster XL models. They are XR's.
@@frankcastle5294 and which one of the 4 have an XR owners manual..... that's because they are a Sportster...yes XL is a Sportster but so is XR.
@@rugershooter5268 You just won't quit, will ya....keyboard warrior? So an XR is actually an XL or as in your idiotic logic an XR is both? Makes sense to me. You should be riding a Honda with the other sissies.
This bike is highly underrated. Harley-Davidson Corporate did a piss poor job of marketing this bike. They always seem to do stuff half ass.
It is American lol of course your gonna get half ass unless “YOU” do it yourself unfortunately
I regretted the day I sold mine! fantastic bike!
cycle trader on line there are XR1200 in there every week $6k - $8k average price
it will cost much more! I live in Cyprus. it will be in euros, plus taxes, shipping etc. thanks
What about the parts for tis bike? Is it easy to get? I really love to buy this bike... but i concerned about the parts.... if not, i might just get the 48...hope u guys can give advice... tq.
What camera are you using?
I could have gotten one for $6400 with less than 10K miles on it about five years ago I’m kicking myself now ! 😤
Does anybody make the staggered risers for those handlebars. I've been looking for a set of risers for that 2009 XR 1200 of mine and I cannot find them anywhere any ideas would be appreciated
How do you like this bike? Any major concerns or things I should check? I'm looking at one
Spinal Tap amplifiers go up to 11.
The XR1200 goes up to 666.
This is terrible. STOP giving your kids/cousins/in-laws jobs!!!
Just bought a bone-stock 2009 in November. Great bike! Buy one if you can find one. Definitely a departure from the standard offerings from HD at the time to cater to the tastes of Europe. I have to believe that it would have done better sales if it wasn't for the economic collapse right when it was released in the US.
The millennial Harley haters killed all the sales but they are still the number one most popular bike on the streets of Japan just try youtubing XR 1200 Harley-Davidsons in Japan and you will see
