So, what we're saying here is that Kitten is the very model of a modern Captain-General?
Gold star for you !
He's studied species Tyranid Necrontyr and Ethereal!~
Why is this not a THING?!
@@chiapetzorz Fingers crossed!
YUSS!
So Kitten has:
-Studied every bit of lore in the Black Library(presumably)
-Beat both the Emperor and Tzneetch in the 40k version of Yu-Gi-Oh!
-Personally purged the Emperorâs personal sewer on MANY an occasion(according to Wamuudes)
-Bakes 10,000 pizzas, one for every Custodes, EVERY DAY.
-Summoned KALDOR DRAIGO FROM THE WARP to stop Magnusâs Colossal Temper Tantrum.
-Had a...sing off? with the Fabricator General.
-Provided for his Shield-Brothers despite some of them being completely all-too-lubricated-and-frictionless assholes.
-Convinced the senile High Lords to actually do something with their lives.
-And handled High Lord and other Caretaker duties on top of ALL OF THIS.
Iâm probably forgetting a BUNCH of stuff but letâs just be honest:
Kitten is the best fucking caretaker ever.

@Ăron TĂŒske BROTHER SANTODES âconvince themâ
@@natecondy4125 I think his dreadnought would need to be made out of solid gold for that to work on them.
You know... the song right in the middle first seems to be entirely about the Custodes arguing that the Emperor's authority trumps the Mechanicus's, and that the burden of proof is on the Fabricator-General. And, in a way, I guess that's true.
Halfway through, it subtly shifts to something else.
16:38 - It's such a small detail, but when Hammurabi strides forward for his solo segment, yelling "How DARE you!", he pushes Kitten back and positions himself between his captain and his opponent. It's so sudden that Kitten visibly reels from it and takes a second to regain his balance. *Kitten* *wasn't* *expecting* *that:* so much of the song appears choreographed with the Custodes singing as a chorus, moving in unison, or continuing each other's lines, but he was taken by surprise when his underling took over the argument and declared, "He does not need proof: he's the Emperor's Word!"
In that segment, Hammurabi wasn't asserting the Emperor's authority: physically and verbally, he was defending *Kitten.*
It's a wonderful bit of foreshadowing to the pep talk that they all give him at 19:34. Although they serve the Emperor, it's not Him on Earth that they're guarding in that moment. It's only when the Fabricator-General calls Kitten absurd that Hammurabi reacts with indignation, and everyone joins in. And then they threaten to call the *Emperor* to back up *Kitten.*
Glorious.
The writers of this show are too good... Why the F* they haven't got some Netflix deal to do something already? Their care for detail is just bo-da-cious!

HOLY DUDE THAT IS AMAZING
My god when Azrael finally began to question and nearly reflect on the past 10,000 years of paranoia his chapter had partaken in. It felt so gratifying like the Dark Angels were on the cusp of finally becoming the chapter they were always meant to be....
Then the Fabricator General just had to forget what book he was holding.

It was great - like everything was great - hearing this revelation, this slow realization of something better. To see this opportunity for self-growth and self-reflection, like many others have experienced in this episode, blossom forth... and waiting for it to come to a screeching halt whenever someone see's the book.
P R A N K E D
I'd like to mention that in the canon, the Dark Angels already had this revelation given to them. _By Cypher._ And they _completely ignored it._ Because A) Gav Thorpe retconned the Ophidium Gulf Incident out of the timeline (they aren't murderous dicks anymore, they're just callous), and B) the Grey Knights and the Inquisition already know about the Fallen, _and don't care._ After all, the other eight loyalist legions had traitors in their ranks, that was the event called the Scouring. Since there are _forty five thousand Fallen left_ as of 8th Edition, why get in the Dark Angels' way?

Imagine being that Astropath; two of the most powerful people in the galaxy are having a singing argument and you're just being used as leverage.
Lol personal cellphone of a allerus terminator
Quite frankly for your standard astropath, to be even the tool for leverage for the emperor's word, is probably one of the greatest things an astropath would be all too happy to be. Barring the fact a selfish lord would likely try to have them killed would be the only real downside for that.
@@Motodiver184 Astropaths can understand the Binary language of the Mechanichus
@@svenkleinplarre9461 I don't really agree with that, the emperor doesn't speak to his subjects in official lore, as the Emperor wouldn't want to be known as a God, as that goes against his ideals. Sure astropaths rely on the Emperor's psychic power to communicate but they're not really speaking to the Emperor, else I'm pretty sure the Emperor would have a lot of not so nice things to say about the state of his imperium.

One thing I love about TTS is how its writers and voice actors managed to give every character, even side-characters, personality and character development. Episodes 27 + 28 introduced us to Lockwarden, Hammurabi and Santodes and managed with but a few dialogue lines and scenes to instantly flesh them out as characters with distinct personalities and you instantly "get" what kind of person they are, from the moment you hear Lockwarden's "my dude". Hammurabi the gay queen, Lockwarden the gay "cool daddy", Santodes the hulking teddybear stripper Dreadnought. And not only do they appreciate Kitten for who he is, they are all _protective_ of their Captain-General just as much as he cares for _them_ (while still being loyal to their Emperor).
What a contrast to Game Workshop trying to depict all Custodes (except maybe the rare "named protagonist" like Valdor or Trajann Valoris) as emotionless, personality-less, _boring_ biological "automatons" with zero interests except "serving the Emperor" who are not supposed to have grown a personality in 11.000 years so that fans don't give a crap if the author of some WH40K novel slaughters hundreds or thousands of "faceless" Custodians as background to some battle scene.
Kitten and the Fabulous Custodes will always be my favorites of course, but I liked Magnus from the moment he burst out of that nullbox, full of indignation. Heck, even the Ecclisiarch as the "only sane man" among the High Lords chamber is so relatable.
Given the multitude of very thorough and very nice comments analyzing TTS with a focus on characters primarily, Iâd honestly be very curious to see your thoughts on our Hunter: The Parenting series, given the even bigger focus on character weâve put on the storytelling in that show.
the funny thing about not giving them personalitys exept the emperor isnt that like the exact opposit of what they are supposed to be?
like they are the emperors companions for a reason you cant have dumb automaton companions they are the smartest strongest wisest men in the universe not some stupid brainless servants like that yeah they have unwavoring loyalty but i dont think that should ever include 0 emotions and maybe even include some pushback
@@alfabusaNot the initial poster, but I do think Hunter the Parenting does a far better job at looking deeply into the core characters and specially given the time we have the focus on them, and funnily enough the more mundane world humanizing them. You get a feel for their personalities and especially their connections with one another. Thereâs less people and in that way you get to see more of a focus in on their relationships and how they actually have history and built on with each other.

@@jackdaalfbrainork6392 Probably not. Knowing the Imperium being, well, an empire, they most likely took over the Mechanicus so they could keep their tanks and aircraft. The Dark Angels *easily* Could have said the Mechanicus was corrupt and that the heresy ran deep to the core. So the leader had to be executed.
@@jackdaalfbrainork6392 Cypher _is_ one of the Fallen that the Dark Angels are so fervently trying to hunt down, a renegade marine who turned on his Primarch (Jonson) and perhaps not serving the Imperium at all. The only way to make su h a point hit harder would be to have Russ say it. If Leman Russ, of all the primarchs, agreed with Magnus it would make even The Emperor pay attention.
@GenericGamer no.227 By "willpower" do you mean "firepower"?
I think it's too easy to forget that "firepower" means naught but ash. In a world so full of smoke and mirrors, Russ might as well be just chopping a tree down in the middle of the woods. No one will hear it, nor remember it, but he will still be standing there, screaming that he's doing what he believes in, and starts chopping the next one.
Magnus actually made a difference. Guilliman is keeping the Imperium together, and if it wasn't for the fact that half of the Primarchs weren't traitors at this point, Russ barely would manage to be above-average. When everything went south he just "disappeared", left his chapter to lust after wolves, and apparently has just been running around in the warp slaying demons, when by *just* calming down a planet and providing safety to it, he could stop a larger amount of demons just from *spawning* let alone: improving the economy, providing hope for the Imperium, and providing safety to billions.
But if you mean "willpower" as in actual willpower, Horus most definitely had him beat there. I could also argue the case for Grandpa Smurf (Papa Smurf is Marneus Calgar), Dorn and almost all traitor Primarchs as well. They *too* fought in what they believed in and had greater will power, for they are actually still alive, and doing what they believe in (except Horus kek).

Even after years, I just can't stop mourning this series...
Being a media student, I found the "I cant tell if this was diegetic" hilarious as it implies that the emperor is aware of our universe and that the sing off may not have happened but was there for our entertainment (context: dietetic sound means the characters in universe can hear it like speech and non diegetic means they cant like spooky music in a horror film)
For the life of me I can't remember the episode, but there's an Archer episode with something similar. Cheryl hears music before commenting that it's "just diegetic."
Its actually entirely possible it was actually sung in-universe. Keep in mind that this song was actually being sung in one of the dialects of Cant Mechanicus*. It is canonically the case that some versions of Cant Mechanicus can actually possess a decent amount of a harmonic pattern to how they are spoken. So all that is needed for it to have been actually sung is for the Fabricator General to decide to go and decide he was going to try go heavy on the Harmonic pattern with his speech using one such dialect when speaking with Kitten. Maybe he was hoping that they wouldn't know it, allowing him to control the flow of conversation. Alas for him, Kitten is amongst the few who have access to the means to actually translate into and out of Cant Mechanicus. Almost any other group in the Imperium wouldn't understand a single line of Cant Mechanicus, up to and including most of the Primarchs.
*We can tell this because when speaking with the Dark Angels(who only the techmarines have any chance of actually understanding a single word of Cant Mechanicus..if their Ad Mech teachers dared to tell them any), there is no binary of what is being said(or not said with the Fab Gen). They don't have a Cant translator, but the Custodes did. Meaning the Fab Gen was truly speaking High Gothic to the DAand therefor was likely speaking Cant Mechanicus to Kitten.
@@Daedwartin2 that's honestly pretty cool to learn, I just found it funny that there was a chance that it somehow was entirely non diegetic and exclusively happened in out world and not only that, the emperor was aware of this fact, and couldnt tell if it happened in his reality or not
