  • Suzuki DR650 Aluminum sprocket cover/case saver was 28.08 on Amazon total cost. I was able to replace my plastic countershaft cover with a trick T6063-T6 Aluminum Alloy one off Amazon without breaking the bank. Easy install too, all hardware provided. On Ebay too.
It seems the sprocket covers are now $45 on Amazon but $35 or best offer on ebay keep checking for best deal. My total was $28.08 to my door.

Perfect timing Dave! I was looking for a sprocket cover for the new DR650 (the Snow Pig) and the Warp9 case saver/ cover is rather expensive. The only difference I see is the Warp9 case saver has slotted hole in the bottom to adjust the play forward and back. Excellent tech tip as always Brother!
    Cheers!

Thank you, DOC, definitely a cheap and easy mod to the DR650. Of course, last night I looked, and it seems the sprocket covers are now $45 on Amazon but only $35 or "best offer" on Ebay w/free shipping keep checking for best deal. My total was $28.08 to my door from Amazon. JNS covers are $100 bucks I would be interested on how they compare. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with Snow pig. Have a blessed holiday

Thank You JR, I'm liking the cover and the 520-sprocket chain set up, with the "C" clip on the counter shaft sprocket it would be easy to convert the gearing from off road to highway if desired. The covers on Amazon are $45 now, but they are all over ebay in the $30's

Another thing that I need to do on my bike. Might wait until time for a chain and sprocket, or just go ahead and do it.
Just buy DOC one of the high dollar ones and he can give it a test and review. Then the rest of us can make an informed decision. Problem solved!
    Thanks for sharing.

Hi Calvin, I waited until I needed chain and sprockets, no need to replace something that’s still good. The previous owner did zero to the chain so it’s life was cut short.
That DOC650 has a Warp9 cover on his DR650 already I believe? I could be wrong?
If he gets one of these cheaper ones I’d be interested in his thoughts between the two.
A lot of people online say the 520 is not as good as the 525 but how many KLR650’ & XR650L & XR650R’s have crossed the globe with a 520 chain. Always great to hear from you Calvin, Happy holidays to you.

@@verbalwidget7267 I most likely will do the braided brake lines first. They seem to be a little squishy and I want the get away from that first.

@@CalvinBradley Smart move, the term squishy and brakes should not go together. I waited until the chain needed replacing.

In my 35 years of riding I have never thrown a chain. That only happens to people that SEVERLY neglect their bike and let the chain/sprocket/slack get into poor shape. Also case savers don't save the case all that much when a chain pops it will still bust out the bolt area.

In my 51 years of riding I haven't thrown a chain either, but I have had the sprocket cover pack with mud many times even in AZ. The features of the cover for the price I got it for is a good addition to the bike. Thanks for the comment.
