I noticed in the final game, after you bug Dimitri's office, Dimitri had dialogue referring to a helicopter as his "eyes in the sky".
I was a little confused as to what he was referring to, but it turns out, it was leftover dialogue from the Alpha here. Very interesting.
Murray's eyes in the alpha still haunt me to this day.

The loot inside the buildings makes the layout of the interiors make more sense. I remember finding all those hidden areas and found them empty without purpose.

Bentley's original health bar is still in the final game in episode 2. I always wondered why it was stylised so differently.

interesting that i never thought they would have sly 2 models in the same style of sly 1. it just goes to show that the development evolved greatly since the alpha version. I didn't even know this existed til now. Wish stuff like this caught more attention. Especially since it's crucial because it is something we have never seen before. In fact I didn't even know an alpha build or prototypes existed, I always thought gaming companies just threw their stuff away like Japanese developers had done in the past. Real interesting stuff.
10:08 In this room in the final game, you can still explore the indoor balcony, and even use a door, and I always thought to myself "What's this doing here? Why can I go here?"

26:59 I noticed one of the green barrels is leaking. So my thinking is originally they would be broken during the fight and begin flooding the floor with that hazardous water, forcing sly and Dimitri to take the fight upstairs. Also explains how Dimitri kinda magically ends up on the second floor after you beat him.
The helicopter was a neat little thing to have. They should’ve kept it in as a an emergency exit ticket almost.
But still interesting stuff here since I grown up with this franchise so this gives me a lot of nostalgia ❤️🤘🍕
Not sure if the files go used, but on the final release there are audio clips of Dimitri mentioning his chopper
There were things to steal on the ledges? That explains why in the final game it just feels like a pointless easter egg kind of thing.

For anyone waiting for Part 2, it was getting close to completion, but then Sony Vegas did what it's known for doing and corrupted the project file. That's the only reason for the delay that I'm aware of.
Yeap that's the main reason. There's more stuff going on but that's the main reason. It's about 50% done right now so hopefully it's gonna be done soon

I remember reading somewhere that SuckerPunch productions was originally planning to not rehire Chris Murphy (voice of Murray) because they wanted a much more heroic voice for the hippo (hence why he has a different voice here).
That was true, but Sucker Punch weren't too happy with any of the guys that tried to replace Chris, so Chris got the job back.

@@weshansen7892 it’s sad but I feel it’s mostly a failure of the writers penning him into a corner of “destruction is cool!”, unfortunately they made him rather childish and simplistic even though he had a lot of growth in Sly 2 that kind of got reverted.
6:40 explains so much... in the remastered version during the final Paris mission when you bring down the peacock sign and have to defend the truck from goons I noticd if you spammed the circle button sly would just keep flying up instead of down (why j spammed the circle button couldn't tell ya). I thought it was a bug or glitch cool to see it was an original mechanic that was scrapped and somehow must have made its way into the game in just that one moment in the remastered version my gusse by mistake. Regardless neat to know there was intention behind that in early demos.

Is this being played on an emulator or on actual hardware? Is there any external software needed to access the demo menu to start the game? If not, is this build open to people who are willing to give it a go on real PS2 hardware? I want to see if those textures are also corrupted on real hardware, or if the health bar occasionally glitches in the same manner
This footage is from an emulator. You can download a debug enabled patched version of the iso on hiddenpalace. Pretty sure I linked it in the description. I have run it on my Ps2 though. The texture looks like that there too. The health bar glitching is cause by pcsx2
I think that a lot of those style choices were better than the ones on the original game 🤔
