    Val, good evening.. I just notice that you have a similarity a little bit with one of the actress here in the Philippines 🇵🇭.. Her name is Ina Raymundo (Not sure if that’s her real name though) She’s also a mom like you.. You both have a little bit same structure of face & i think body as well.. Especially, when you do a side view & when you smile & laugh.. You are the russian girl version of Ina Raymundo.. Thank you! for both of you for saying kind words on our country & filipinos.. God bless! 🙂 🇵🇭❤️🇷🇺

    Asking Where are you goin is the traditional greeting of olden filipino ancestors.and the way to start conversation and communication.That is the culture manner of filipino when meet anywhere asking where are you going expecially in bisaya to greet friendly to someone.It also to show that filipino has a care for you.While in the modern times or people not knowing yet about that culture considered bad for them because it's a privacy matters and private life of someone.But for real Filipinos practices it's a kind of treat to friendly approach to anyone without malice.The real Filipino practices are being family oriented and open to each other to extend relationship to other people that are not blood-related members.

    Government Issue joe (GI Joe) many US soldiers were stationed in the Philippines especially during ww2; when kids meet any white young man, they usually assume them to be American soldier, so they greet them hey joe or g.i. joe. In the 60's, 70' and 80's during vietnam war, many US soldiers were stationed in different US military bases i.e. Sangley pt. Naval base Cavite, Subic Bay Naval Base Olongapo city, John Hay air base Baguio city, Clark air base Angeles city and San Miguel Communication station Tarlac. hence the name hey joe by Filipino kids.

    During the time when the Philippines was under American colonization, it was common for American soldiers to be referred to as "Joe." This nickname was inspired by the term G.I. Joe. As a result, when Filipinos encountered white men, they often used the nickname Joe to refer to them. The individuals from Mindanao who typically requested money, particularly from foreigners, were the Badjau people. They are Muslim Filipinos residing in the ocean, although some have relocated to inland areas and continue to beg for money.

    In 1948, Philippne President Elpidio Quirino warmly welcomed 6,000 Russian refugees from Europe when no country on earth denied them accommodation for a safe place of refuge. They were settled in a place called Tubabao Island in Eastern Samar facing the Pacific Ocean. To the Russian settlers back then the island was paradise away from war and carnage of Europe. 70 years past, now Russian communities existed in Carcar, northern Cebu warmly welcomed and peacefully co--existed with locals. These Russians numerous of them already spoke Cebuano the mother tongue of Bisaya thought they are modern day versions of Russian-Cebuanos internalizing local culture. Russians participated fiestas and festivals, but retained their Russian cultural heritage. They too held their Festivities complete with parades in Town's proper. The Mayor declared Russian Day to have them free hand to fully celebrate their customs in the City. They find no difficulty with religion both are religious people.

    Hi beautiful V and Sergie! With regards to your curiousity about GI Joe and why filipinos call the white male foreigners Joe because it started during the world war II. Hey Joe is an expression left over from WWII. It is a "term of endearment" for american soldiers. The american soldiers were called GI Joe during the WWII when they were in The Philippines. The word GI orginally stands for "Galvanized Iron", which is the primary material used to make military items but as the military grew and evolved over time GI took on multiple meanings such as "Ground Infantry", "General Issue", and later on "Government Issue" which is a decriptive term for US government issued supplies. Later on GI Joe was made into a movie and comic book series and the rest was history. :-)

  • @88Kidlat
    @88Kidlat Před měsícem +1

    The term "Joe" started during the Liberation Time when Americans freed the Philippines from Japan. When people greeted an American, they said: "Hi, Joe!" or "Victory, Joe," they're given a bar of chocolate or candy by the American soldier. It has been carried on to greet white men (not necessarily American) in some parts of the country.

    Male Foreigners being called as Joe came from a nostalgic ferrari commercial from 1997. Filipinos loves boxing and during boxing matches on TV this commercial is repeatedly played around that year and gave any male foreigner a new stereotype to be called "Joe". Plus, because of movie GI JOE which show american soldier so you are right it made filipino think JOE is common white foreigner name but not all white are americans as we know haha original link below for the old ferrari commercial czcams.com/video/qlEgy9ScDZU/video.html

    The locals (Filipinos) ask where you are going is because you are a foreigner and you are not a local there. They are probably curious to know where you are going so they could help you on how to get to your destination. I think this is the reason why. But now that there are so many expats living in the island and around the country, the locals are used to your presence and it is just ordinary to see you around 😀 Just my thought. ❤

This is an expression left over from WWII, a “term of endearment” for American soldiers (think “G.I. Joe”). The term originated in the aftermath of World War II when the Philippines was occupied by thousands of American “G.I. Joes” seen by many as their country's saviors. It had actually started as a1941 cartoon character created by a U.S. Army private named David Breger.
