Well this was sure a fun adventure in the mountains! Commenting on CZcams, Liking and Sharing the video let's me know you want to see more videos like this one!
What a fish! Great job dude!
Thanks a bunch!
Wow Great video for me just being there would be worth it fish or not great looking eater fish thanks for sharing keep the cameras rolling from Florida
Thank you so much! Yep its a pretty neat place!
Sick fish🎉 I'd say it's definitely a cutbow
Thank you sir! Definitely could be for sure, I have came across rainbows from places that have cutthroat nowhere near them that have that faint slash as well and it has alot more rainbow characteristics then anything else but with it being from k lakes there's a solid possibility of it being a cuttbow. Thanks for checking out the vid man!
Hog alert! Nice
Thank you sir!👊
Taaaaank 🙌🏻. What a beauty fish! And that landscape too.. just can’t be beat
Thank you sir! 👊 Yeah it's definitely a beautiful place!
How dare you bonk legal sized non native stocked fish.
Right! You'd think it's the last fish in the lake by the way some people react lol
😅 Rikky , let me guess, you will be going back to that beauty of a lake . I know I would be .😊
IL definitely be going back to that spot again, yes sir!
Nice one Rick! How was the meat anyways? I find the big rainbows from places like k lakes and maligne all have fantastic tasting meat.
Thank you sir! The meat is absolutely fantastic it has that orange flesh like a salmon.
Rocky mountain lakes have the best tasting fish of any I've had
@@loganrutherford5179 I agree!
That’s a gooood rainbow, those bull trout can be quite tricky to land eh. Was there a couple weeks back and definitely missed a lot of bites and some that got off. What a gorgeous lake to fish I’ll definitely be back there
Thank you sir! Damn eh well best of luck on your next outing there!
Ahhh the sweet smell of crisp mountain air and giant lakes. Pacha Mama provides you with good luck my friend. 😋
The lake giveth and taketh but that day it giveth!
A personal best to boot. Heck yea! Good eats during this frigid cold snap. 🤙 @@RikklesFisher
@misterfishy834 the amount of healthy meat that supplied me with in a time where it's expensive to buy any fish at the grocery store I'm very grateful for that meat in the freezer!
Thought this to be freshwater country? What's with the saltiness flowing eh?
Your release to keep ratio is something to admire and keep note of.
Keep the vids coming! Surely there are many that enjoy tagging along in your adventures. 👍
@misterfishy834 exactly lol I have kept one other fish from there and the lake seems to be doing even better then it was then.. appreciate it and many do I'm sure!
Sweet man I felt the tug on that puppy over here lol
Thanks man! Fun tussle for sure lol felt small then all of a sudden it felt big.
Nothing wrong with keeping a fish within your legal limit. That fish seems to be one of the natural reproduced cutbows. Stocked fish of that size would have worn down fins. Doubt these cutbows are having high success rates of breeding though. Congrats on the pb!
Thanks Brian! The brooders would definitely have worn down fins. But ones that were stocked and grew up in the lake won't. It was a definite upgrade from the 21" er I got years ago when I was there.
@@RikklesFisher they haven’t stocked any small of those small trout in the K lakes for years. Last ones they put in were last year, some big old cutthroat at about 50cm hoping to see them this hard water season.
How deep are you fishing?
I forget, you will have to watch and read the sonar depth in the video I know it's in there!
Nice fish congrats! Stocked rainbow u said? Would that not mean it’s not a breeder anyway then lol
Thank you! They were put into a lake that otherwise never had them, when I'm not sure lol and I'm not sure if they can spawn or not.
@@RikklesFisher if they were from the hatchery they don’t spawn… congrants can’t wait to see the next one you bonk 👊🏻
@@GCRockymtns 👊
So much action but so little fish on the ice?
Basically 🤣 Action meaning marks on the sonar and bites included.
@@RikklesFisher haha just poking fun awesome video and congrats on that beauty rainbow
@kevinschewa2927 thanks Kevin!
Glad you at least felt “a little guilty” for bonking that beautiful breeder.
Killing any animal always makes me feel guilty but it is part of being a human and harvesting my own healthy organic meat.
Exactly the mentality that’s going to destroy a delicate lake like this one. Typical.
@andysweetland5485 I harvested a 21 incher years ago and I have only been there a few times since, now there is 26-27" in there! I would say they are doing fine and the 2 I have ate from there didn't ruin the lake.
Says the snowmobiling hypocrite 🤷
Dude, rainbows are stocked and non-native in that system. If anything you should be glad he took a rainbow out so the NATIVE bulls have less competition for resources. Typical armchair “bio” thinking he understands population dynamics 😂😂
Imagine catching a PB wild fish and then bonking it so it will never reproduce again. All for CZcams…sad
That's a stocked fish, and it was for food not youtube...I just share my adventures here is all whether I keep fish or release them.
@@RikklesFisher that is definitely not a stocked fish, that is a naturally occurring rainbow. The slashes under the jaw do not indicate cuttbow (as everybody thinks) can happen with rainbows and is not a true indicator of cutthroat (google it) I have caught many rainbows out of stocked lakes with no cutthroat around that have the slashes.
Look back at the stocking reports, the only cutties stocked in the last while have been dirty old brood stock cutthroat that look nothing like what you caught.
Agree to disagree but you caught a wild fish that would be spawning next spring, think about it if you catch another one. They will never ever stock rainbows in there again and if they get fished out they’ll never be back.
@kyle44445 I also lean towards it being a rainbow and not a cuttbow, the only native rainbow species in Alberta is the Athabasca Rainbow Trout, those rainbows in k lakes were not there originally.
@@RikklesFisher While true that it is not a native fish, it is a wild fish as it hasnt been stocked with rainbows since the 80s. Same way that the bow river has all wild spawning browns/bows but not native to fishery. Hopefully the next one you get you will think twice about bonking it as that big hen was likely full of eggs.
@@Fishinguy962if you have a problem about bitch to the government about it it's dead now
