I have owned 6000a and upgraded to 7000a, my views are exactly what you said. I have paired both with Lintons, and the Lintons opened up more when I upgraded to 7000a. Excellent Dac and superb sound which won’t fatigue you on any level. Nice Video
I do love Audiolabs design as I side with the minimalist camp. I also commend them for abundant and diverse connectivity, with added flexibility of amp / pre- out options. Definately a smart design.
I personally find the 7000A's sound too analytical, at least paired to my Q Acoustics 5040. It particularly has a problem resolving female vocals. Roberta Flack, Diana Krall, Eva Cassidy, Madeliene Peyroux all sound thin and stretched out and sharp-edged. In many other vocals there is a slight hiss which I guess most people might not notice, but it gets to me. I switched to the Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition's internal DAC and immediately I noticed that the vocals were much fuller and rounded and more satisfying. Thanks for your review. Update: What a difference the interconnects make! I had been using coaxial which gave me the thin vocals. I then tried connecting my eversolo to the 7000A using USB. Wow! Now the vocals are beautiful! Moral of the story: mix n match and experiment.
Mixing and matching electronics and speakers is a key part of every audiophiles journey. Not every pairing is going to work for everyone, thanks for your opinions on the pairing with Q-Acoustics, its not something we have had the opportunity to test.
Just got the 7000A I haven’t heard the other 2 models to compare but I totally agree with your descriptions. I’ve a pair of Q acoustic 3050i speakers and the combination is amazing, the sound stage, the depth and the separation of instruments is very good. The DAC is much better than the one in my Bluesound node streamer . The surprise was the phono preamp which is very good quality, I paired it with my Pro-ject spirit with Ortofon blue, very nice. Very very happy with this amp.
Great review and comparison of all three Amps 👍 I’ve owned the 6000a for about a year now and it’s a fantastic amp but I wanted to climb further up the pecking order to get the best performance out of my Q Acoustics Concept 50’s given their price category. I agree with everything you mentioned when comparing the 6000a and the 7000a, it wasn’t a big enough leap in performance,so I tried the 9000a and the difference was definitely more noticeable with far better instrument separation and a wider soundstage for sure😮 The 9000a is in a different league compared with the other two so I ended up buying one; it’s a serious bit of kit and well worth the investment for the musical experience imo 😊 Thanks for your review 👍
Hi I get what you’re saying, it is overpriced but I didn’t pay anywhere near the full RRP price 😉 The Hegel H120 certainly looks a great amp and one that I didn’t even consider tbh😤, not only that I don’t have a Hegel stockist near me unfortunately. I auditioned the new Rega Elex mk4 but not the Elcit mk5 ; it just didn’t gel with the Concepts and the same goes for the Naim Atom. I’m more than happy with the 9000a with how it sounds and looks. @@Linux_Lucy As with all amplifiers quite often there are several other options that may be as good or better in certain combinations, the trick is finding the one that sounds good with your specific speakers and to your ears! I agree the Hegel H120 is an amazing amplifier and works with a lot....of different speakers but it is not always the best option with some speakers.
I got the 7000a to go in my parents house while I have the 8300a. The speakers are almost the same… wharfedale diamond 225 with the 7000a and diamond 230 with the 8300a. I haven’t tried an external dac yet with the 7000a, but just comparing the bluesound node and my 8300a, the tuning is very different. The 8300a is way way more neutral (even though both are mid focused), and as a result the 8300a does come across as a lot smoother to listen to… but I need to try the bluesound node on the 7000a before I can confirm this properly. Both are good depending on what you like to listen to… the 7000a will add more grit to male vocalists, so if you like Phil Collins go with the 7000a, but if you like Pavarotti , go with the 8300a. Both have good instrument separation…

I just bought the 7000a a f months ago . How I know when is in 110 watts. I don’t feel to much power in this integrated amplifier. And using a sonus faber lumina II and a SVS powered subwoofer.

My room size is 14x15 feet and I always leasining music between 72-84 db. After your review I think I am not will be disappointed to pair KEF LS50 meta with Audiolab 7000A amplifier. Are KEF LS50 meta speakers is decent match with this amplifier?
Hey, really nice review, thanks. Just one question- at 21:58 in the video you say that the 6000A can't be plugged into your TV. I know the 6000A doesn't have HDMI arc, but can't you still use the optical in?
Yes you can, and its something Daniel does with his own unit at home, BUT its a lot less convenient, especially if you have family members who aren't keen on juggling multiple remotes.

I do have a small lounge though (4mx4m). Does everything still sound good together at lower volumes? I have neighbours to consider too. Regards

During your testing did you notice any volume level that was causing 7000a problems with driving LS50 Meta? I'm thinking about getting this set but there are a lot of opinions that these speakers require more powerful amp. My sofa is ~2m away from the TV cabinet where these would be situated.
At no point was there any straining of the speakers, and at only 2m away from the cabinet you shouldn't be cranking any speakers or your going to damage your hearing. Depending on the size of your room you might want too invest in a sub if you want that full sound.
even at -78 vol....no inputs connected,,, after 1 hour 9000a,, 7000a seem to reach about 40-45c temp... amb temp being 20c,,,,, meanwhile 6000a barely reaches 23c,,,, do u see this 1
inside box,,, not big diffs in parts 6000a vs 7000a,,, cost of parts increase might be roughly 40-50 bucks,,, maybe,,, but who knows,,, gonna listen carefully,,, with many sources,, spkrs... btw,,, fyi... do try r50m klipsch... let that sucker burn in 100 hrs tho...

Give Lintons 6000a, 7000a, 9000a, give them 2x150W, give them pure A class, and they will thirst for more. And they will deliver more.

This is a tough one as it kind of depends on my mood and what I'm listening to, Hegel's range has probably been my favourite in more general terms.

It's all about the sound signature you are trying to create, you will have to swap them out and see how you feel.

I was listening with the KEF LS50 II Meta but as with all systems your experience will be very set-up and room dependent.

How would it compare to a Rotel product?
Audiolab and Rotel have very different sound goals. Audiolab is a little more on the neutral side generally speaking.
I have a Naim 5i amp better by my ears , Audiolab 6000a amp lacking , Good value for the money though.
