    For decades, the US has been grappling with a devastating opioid crisis, with nearly a million drug overdose deaths since 1999. Opioid addiction was initially fuelled by pharmaceutical companies aggressively promoting prescription painkillers. But the arrival of fentanyl on the black market exacerbated the problem, with a potency 100 times stronger than morphine. China, with its massive chemical industry, has long played a significant role in the illicit fentanyl trade. But efforts to curb its production and export have led to a shift in operations to countries like India.

Stop blaming everything on China.

      It's happening because usa doesn't allow any opiates to be sold over the counter. Do only thing available on streets is the most potent research chemicals because it's easiest to make and smuggle.
      Usa needs to legalize poppy growing and allow adults to purchase codiene and morphine extract from said poppies. As narcan can work on both codiene and morphine no problem..overdose deaths would plummet to the lowest level in decades if that happened.

    In the realm of gun control within the United States, the prevailing sentiment asserts that it is the individuals wielding the firearms rather than the guns themselves that pose the threat. This analogy extends to the realm of drugs, where the blame for fatalities is placed on the users rather than the substances. The principle that where there is a demand, a corresponding supply emerges holds true in this context. Within the American landscape, the cessation of one drug merely propels individuals to seek out alternative substances in pursuit of heightened experiences, perpetuating an unending cycle. The prevalence of substance use among Americans commences at a tender age, with illicit drug distribution being alarmingly rampant within educational institutions overseen by different factions. This firsthand insight is derived from personal experiences growing up in the United States. Regrettably, the nation stands as the largest global consumer of illegal narcotics, a predicament seemingly without a foreseeable resolution.

    From who's perspective? I'm trying to remember whether it was Mexico foreign minister or trade minister who put it best. "We are so unfortunate. We are right in the middle of BY FAR the largest market for illicit drugs and one of the largest region for the production of said drugs. We suffer crime and smuggling as the result." The same thing can be said about China. It borders one the world's largest regions for drug production and human trafficking and the US is one of its biggest markets.
    The poignant point is this, the US, Canada and Europe has never taken responsibility for their own actions. Their decriminalization of various formerly illegal activities, defunding of policing, breakdown of social order and, speaking as one with a groundview in New York, bail "reform," led to these problems. They are problems that arose as of the US' own choice.

      Except when the corrupt US healthcare system pushes opioid painkillers onto the general public for years getting them hooked onto the drugs they peddle like a government approved drug dealer.
      Americans then can't afford their healthcare and get cut off from said opioids then they look to the cornerstore drug dealer for cheap alternatives like Fentanyl which is originally an animal tranquilizer.
      These addicts have no choice. They have a disease brought upon them by the healthcare system they trusted in. This is what happens when you privatise healthcare and put profits before the health of people.

    The problem with drugs is that there will always be a market for them. This has been true through history.
    Making them illegal does very little to affect the market demand and instead just makes the market more lucrative and profitable.
    It is due to legislators around the world not willing to recognize this that much of the other crime continues to gets its cashflow.
    Meanwhile legalization can transfer away trillions of dollars from cartels each year and all that money can be spend on improving medial care, addiction treatment and educating people on the dangers of drugs.

    Taking fentanyl and other schedule 1 drugs is a personal choice. Don't blame China if people have no self control.

      Fentanyl is used as a medicine in more than 100 countries around the world (including China), but it is abused only in the United States. So whose problem is it?

    • @darth3911
      @darth3911 Před 2 měsíci

      @@jogana6909Actually it’s also abused in the U.K. and Western Europe.
      Reason why fentanyl is starting to become so rampantly abused is because it’s cheaper to produce and has stronger effects than other drugs.
