First of all the two cities are close to each other, and secondly, while Osaka is a highly modernised city well suited for travellers, Kyoto offers you how a glamorous, traditional Japanese city looks like
Yes, Kyoto is totally worth a visit for a few days as well. So much to see and very beautiful as well. We have a video of all that we did there. We did not have a chance to hear to Kuromon Market, but next time we will.

Anyway, I agree that a lot of people would enjoy Osaka more than Tokyo. I tell my friends that Tokyo is great only for first-time visitors. After that, Japan has much more to offer!

I've been planning a little map around Osaka like crazy the past 2 months as I'll be there for about 4 weeks next month. I had no idea about the PARCO and that Capcom store, so sick! But honestly nothing in this video got me more excited than 9:26 I really really want to keep using and practicing my Japanese so I'm really hoping it'll be easy to strike up some conversations with folk around the city!

I lived in Osaka for 3 years right after college. I still go back about every other year. You left out Umeda which is one of the biggest districts in Osaka.

True, but it fooled us. It played the theme at the entrance and sound effects from the game and had a bunch of themed items. You're right, i'm sure they switch it out for different games.
I was in Tokyo in November. My plan was to go around Japan but I stayed in Tokyo because it's so big with so much to do. This time, I am going straight to Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Mount Fuji, and a bit of Tokyo.
Any trip to Japan is well worth it! We could have seen more of Tokyo and we missed Kobe and Mt. Fuji as we ran out of time. Next time we plan to see more as well :)

I believe you purchase it at the gate along with the park entrance. So 2, if I remember correctly. But then you want to go straight to the ticket booth inside to get your time slot as soon as you enter as it gets full. Ask when you buy the tickets to be safe as the rules might change.

Super cool! That's a good amount of time. I'd say 2 nights would be good to see a lot in Osaka. But it's also well located so you can see a lot from there like Koyasan and Nara.

Oof, that's tough because Kyoto requires a few days to really enjoy it all too. An all day trip to Osaka should be fine, but it will be hard to see everything and appreciate it. Either way, you'll have a great time.
We stayed at the Osaka Ebisu Hotel. Just make sure to double check that you get a non-smoking room. We found it to be centrally located, but if your parents get tired easily....get as close to a train station as possible as it will make it a breeze to get anywhere.

That's really cool! We'd love to stay there longer and see what it's like, but there are a lot of factors involved so it depends. Like what you're going to do for work, if you're going to learn the language, etc. We met an old friend there who was living in Osaka for the last 13 years. He is from the US. He loves it there. Started a family and everything.

This is the address on google: 4 Chome-11-7 Nipponbashi, Naniwa Ward, Osaka, 556-0005, Japan There are other retro arcades tucked away nearby, but that was our favorite and largest from what we found.

I'm an American living in Yokohama and work inTokyo. I also used to live in Kobe and made many trips to Osaka. Is it better than Tokyo? Depends the reason for the trip. If it's for a Japanese foodie adventure, maybe Osaka is better. But overall, Tokyo offers much more if the traveler plans their trip well. But you can't go wrong either way for first time visitors. Other than that, nice video highlighting some of the fun areas of Osaka. Killer video quality. Did you try Tennoji, Umeda, izakayas of Tenma? There's many more areas of Osaka to explore and I advise anyone watching to try going off the beaten path and check out lesser known areas. It may not be English friendly but you'll get a good dose of local life in Osaka. Glad you enjoyed the trip.

For me it just looks like another massive city that you could get in New York or London with Japanese food and shopping. Not really seeing the real Japan.
@@realescape I would say that most cities have their own charm - and unless you have language skills or a really good guide it's a little bit hard to venture out of cities and into rural areas... but what is the 'Real Japan'??
@@realescape Osaka feels more touristy. It’s also kinda more gritty and rough feeling. Tokyo feels more polished. I am not sure if Osaka is more real and I am just biased to Tokyo. Osaka is definitely cheaper though
What i liked about Tokyo most was the entertainment and shopping areas, i went alot of shopping in ginza and akihabara. As for osaka lived there five years but i just didn't like the city but that's just my opinion. Maybe the aquarium in osaka and the expo city i only liked
Five years without much knowledge of history won't tell you anything. I'm a historian who has lived in both for 20 years, but Kinki (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nara, Siga, Mie) is clearly more genuine.

Also knowledge about history won't give me a advantage in work in Osaka, Tokyo is just better to me and also more work opportunities.

Thanks! Credit Card friendly for sure. We only had cash on us mostly for the train station as we didn't have a travel pass for that.

@@realescape Osaka feels more touristy. It’s also kinda more gritty and rough feeling. Tokyo feels more polished. I am not sure if Osaka is more real and I am just biased to Tokyo. Osaka is definitely cheaper though

Cool! What is it you like more about Tokyo that you don't like in Osaka? We loved both places for different reasons.
What i liked about Tokyo most was the entertainment and shopping areas, i went alot of shopping in ginza and akihabara. As for osaka lived there five years but i just didn't like the city but that's just my opinion. Maybe the aquarium in osaka and the expo city i only liked

I'm a historian who has lived in both for 20 years, but Kinki (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nara, Siga, Mie) is clearly more genuine.
@@条遊 I dont need knowledge of history, i have street knowledge and Osaka in my heart has always been a city were people were unkind and that's all that matters to me. Also knowledge about history won't give me a advantage in work in Osaka, Tokyo is just better to me and also more work opportunities.
