Guts, renowned as the "Black Swordsman", is a former mercenary and branded wanderer who travels the world in a constant internal struggle between pursuing his own ends and protecting those dear to him. At one time driven solely by his will to survive, Guts finds purpose in life upon joining the Band of the Falcon, greatly helping in the faction's storied successes during the Hundred-Year War as captain of the band's raiders. He eventually becomes dissatisfied with clinging on to Griffith's dream, and departs from the band in pursuit of his own. Following the horrors of the Eclipse prompted by Griffith, Guts embarks on a two-year war against the God Hand and apostles, becoming increasingly embittered on his one-track quest for retribution. He in time realizes protecting his regressed lover is more important to him, as well as something he cannot do alone, and thus seemingly abandons his quest for revenge while fostering camaraderie with his new companions.

Guts, a man in dark clothing and intimidating armor, is actually a good person who cares about the people closest to him, and stays true to himself, and is willing to put aside his vengeful crusade to find sanctuary for Casca
Griffith, a man who is in white clothing, and has an angelic appearance, is actually a treacherous psychopath who lies to people and makes people believe he is a messiah, and sacrifices all his comrades for his ambitions

i’m sorry, but Griffith literally said he wouldn’t betray his dream? He never attacked without purpose to his dream until Guts left him. There was so many hints that told Guts to never go see Griffith again, being TOLD TO LEAVE with Casca by Judeau before the Eclipse happened.
Griffith has stayed true to his own passion more than Guts. Guts only wanted to leave with Casca, but left the moment he had the opportunity to stay with her. The moment he wanted to protect her again, she had run away from home and he was met with the causality in his actions. Meanwhile, Griffith, still set on being a king, gets reborn and that’s before Guts decided to stop his fighting. Griffith had three moments that defined him not following his dream. 1.) when he stopped Guts from leaving 2.) doing that thing after Femto was born 3.) Going back to tell Guts that he was going to have his own kingdom.
He probably didn’t even make the people see a vision of the white falcon, it was just a result of his resurrection into the physical world. The fact he commands literal demons and still manages to protect Midland? I doubt he is going to jeopardize his kingdom for shiggles, he let his people talk to the souls of their departing loved ones after battle.
Berserk will forever be a masterpiece......

Guts is a representation. That’s why Skull Knight always calls him “Struggler”. Guts is a personification of adversity and overcoming all while fighting and refusing to give in. This is why he’s my favorite anime character.

The Fact that the Creator of this Miracle died is beyond heartbreaking.
Especially since he hadn't had the Chance to finish it, which makes Matters even Worse.
The Story of Guts is too epic for linguistic Descriptions being ever able to live up to it's Entirety already...
Just imagine what it would be like, if there was an End to this Story that's Capable of Honoring Kentaro Miura's Legacy and even satisfying the Fan's Expectations as well.
Thinking about this, i seriously start to doubt that creating an appropriate Ending that's able to match the Quality of Berserk's Entirety is even possible, like:

Miura had been training his assistants. While there will always be doubt about the true ending of Berserk, we do know it is already coming to a close before his death.
Miura said he wanted to finish Berserk and he knew that he wasn’t going to be able to finish it during his lifespam so there’s a pretty good chance that his assistant will finish it up for him.
Its now official that the assistant will finish it

Also a little critical point. Guts didn’t retaliate against Gambino but when he was going to be struck down he reacted to the strike and accidentally killed Gambino which caused a tremendous amount of grief within himself
And in 2016,Guts was attacked by bad CG and we have never heard of him since.(respect for guts tho.)

he skipped a lot more than lost children. he skipped the recent chapters, along with the chase from the manga, which led into my favorite apostle fight, that being Guts vs Wyald. In fact, he skipped a lot of the manga arcs as it appeared he went off the movies and the 2016 a lot more than anything else. I was honestly surprised when he included the Snake Apostle fight from 1997.

Band of the Falcon is the more literal translation of the original Japanese manga. Band of the Hawk was either a translation error that was kept and rolled with or changed to better fit western audiences. I prefer Hawk though lol

One thing I love about the eclipse is how it completely turns the story around.
In most cases, this would be a poor decision for the writer(s) but here it's a metaphor for how the order of the very world Guts lives in has been destroyed and revamped

Thanks for reminding me of the time Guts did an Assassin's Creed style mission with his big ass sword. Even though it is not the biggest version he ends up having, it is still very, very unique in this era.
I like how you just completely skipped the whole boat saga hahaha feel genuinely sorry for day 1 manga readers who had to deal with them being on that ship for near enough 10 years. Even more heartbreaking that Miura sadly passed away not long after finally reaching elfhelm when the story really seemed to be coming together.

No, the manga isnt finished and (i swear im normally not this guy but) sadly imo this is a lazy video rushed together for views off the authors death. Aside from everything else missing which is quite a bit when added up, it doesnt even cover any chapter thats been released the last 3 years. We can hope the authors assistants will finish it between unreleased work he had saved and what hes told them but noone really knows for sure.
The manga ended, but the story didnt.. so to put it in simple terms. The publishing house is gonna let miuras last chapter be the end of the manga, that is not where the story ends tho.. so in the end, its a story without an end cause it wont be continued.
Since the author is dead technically yes. It ends with a cliffhanger of Griffith appearing on the elf island. I'm not spoiling anything more then that.

great video! for a short (technically) recap of it all, its good. i think the inclusion of the lost children arc would be good though to help add length and more detail as to why he was captured by the holy iron chain knights.

Skip watching this, and actually watch the show. It's worth it. I would personally love to see a remaster/reboot of this show (with better artistry and updated grfx), it was insane and unique in it's level of skin-crawling, 'WTF' scenes. I don't remember much of the story from this show, but it's hard to forget how it made me feel. It was ominous, strange, and intriguing.. I wish more shows like this existed.

I'm not one of those typical types to speak against better graphics, and claim that story is everything, and that grfx don't matter, but in the case of this show, the story, uniqueness and gory 'WTF' scenes really pulled it through to create a great cult classic.
It's like Evil dead. That show had a terrible budget but they still puled it off. Although in the case of Berserk, as I mentioned, a grfx upgrade would do it some justice.

This anime really saved my life and gave me the motivation to keep going
The similarities between this show and Elden Ring is so fun to watch and notice. The witch looks like Ranni, the spirit tree looks like it could be an inspiration for the Erd Tree, the Berserker Armor looks like Blaidd, the naked goddess during the original eclipse looks like Malenia goddess of rot, Midland is very similar to “The Lands Between”, the swords in the ground are found throughout Elden Ring, and so so so much more. It’s just so cool to see the influences.

One of the many things I love about Guts is how he isn't just a savage. Yeah he often just uses brute strength to win, but when this fails, he will do quick thinking and do things such as when he used the difference between air pressures against the Sea God or how he played dead to get close to an enemy. More importantly, he can be philosophical and understanding, the bonfire of dreams scene being my favorite example of it. The story is called Berserk, but Guts is so much more than just a berserk
Before, Berserk was Miura's story. Since Miura's passing, Guts story belongs to all of us.

I sometimes think Berserk should end with Guts and Casca living the rest of their lives in Elfem. That way they can die in peace and not be sacrificed. This would also technically void Griffith's power and kingdom since the ritual was never complete. You get a happy ending with the only downside that Casca can't confront Griffith or her experience during the eclipse and completely be at peace unless she somehow is able to fully remember what happened and still be at peace and move on. Now who knows what will happen with the new writers taking up the mantle.

I'm not going to be that kind of guy answer those two arcs are unimportant but but they don't really matter in the overall story
@@emiliianoportillo1311 they do matter Miura himself said that these chapters being "pointless" is the exact point. They're meant to show how Guts' quest for revenge leads nowhere. They also show Guts at his very lowest, the only points in the story that makes you question who is the hero, and who is the monster.
Saying these 2 arcs are pointless, is ironically, missing the point of their pointlessness xD haha
