2 things:
1) skip says last yr, denver's x factor was bruce brown and that was what tipped the scales towards denver. but then how do you explain the nuggets beating the lakers 4 times this year despite not having bruce brown??
2) denver's x factor is MPJ and KCP. if those 2 guys are firing on full force and shooting 40%+ from 3 throughout the series, it is a wrap. idk the exact stats but just from watching a ton of nuggets games, if MPJ and KCP are both scoring 15+ ish points, it is rare that the nuggets lose.

Hopefully I'm wrong. but with that being said it's not hard to tell the referees to call certain fouls in the Lakers favor which pushes that narrative. The NBA wasn't happy that the Lakers didn't make it to the finals last year because they lost money with it being nuggets vs miami. Los Angeles is a big market and they bring a lot of viewers even from people that are not Lakers fans. At the end of the day it's still a big money business.
