Great review, definitely agree with the blanket analogy and the fact that its easy to listen to. I got mine for the tips (Type E tips alone are $20) so i could use them wish my aria, but i keep my e500 in my laptop bag for if i need them in a pinch.
never a bad idea. i do the same thing with the philips she3590. some of the best tips ever for $9, use them on everything. and a spare cheapo earphone if i need it. although e500 is definitely better than the philips

i think with wavelet we can tune almost any headphone to owr taste
most headphones and earphones with decent drivers can handle eq well, and if you're ok with eq it can definitely improve the sound noticeably...
Some don’t like eq at all. It really depends on the driver quality I suppose, maybe other factors too.
