- La Résistance - the latest expansion for Hearts of Iron 4 - is heavily focused on espionage. You can now build an intelligence agency to train secret agents who will gather intel, crack codes, sabotage your opponent, and organize resistance movements in occupied territory! On top of all that, three very intensive and well crafted national focus trees have been added for France, Spain, and Portugal. In this campaign, we're going to try to restore a Bonaparte to the throne of France and prepare for the oncoming storm. These French will NEVER surrender!

The amount of points you can take in a peace deal is equal to your own score MINUS the score of the country below you in score. You had 900 score, Germany had 700, so you could take 200

Trust me at this point Germany and Italy are still a huge pain in the ass but damn he pulls some good strats on them
27:56 collaboration governments are especially powerful for (non-democratic) France I believe, as you have so much colonial land with limited resources/infrastructure, these govt's get the generic focus tree, so eventually will give you up to 3 civs and 2/3 mills a piece.
It's also pretty handy when you want to tactically block access to certain bits of land (Tunisia if you are going against the axis)

Make an empire streching to Moscow
After the new DLC the occupation sistem has been changed.
Now, after annexing a country, you only get a % of their factories. You can see the % in the occupations interface menu, and the % of factories depends of you occupation law and compliance level.
Right now, for example you only get 25% of british factories, but you could get 50% from harsh law or more later after you build compliance. The rest of the factories can not be used by you (or by your allies) and you also have to spend resources (guns and men) to garnison the land.
If you have an integrated puppet (or reichskomissariat) you get 25% of thier civilian factories and 65% of thier millitary factories and the rest go to your puppet, helping them build more factories and more divisions that also help you.
If you have the option to use integrated puppets, unless you already have a high % of factories from very high compliance and a good occupation law, please consider creating big puppets.
Be aware that if fascist nations use the puppet action in the peace deal, they create reichskomissariats (integrated puppets) so this is very strong for them because they get the same or more factories and they dont have to spend stuff on garnisons.
Be aware that communist nations (or at least the Soviets) have a special occupation law called "Liberated Workers" that is very strong, giving access to a higher % of factories while still building up compliance (and is also cheap). If the communists use the puppet action in the peace deal, they get normal puppets that dont give any industry to their master. I recomand annexing land as the Soviets (or commie nation)
Be aware that if you have a core on a state you get no resistance and if you have a claim on a state you get higher compliance so I recomand taking the states.

Best way to learn hoi4 is to just watch it on yt, while also trying some things by yourself as strong nations. This is how I did it anyway. Feedback Gaming and Taureor are really good in explaining how this game works, for example. And Pravus isnt very good player, he really sticks to old metas, that are quite outdated nowadays. But I still like watching him, its fun
Im still new so what I’ve been doing is playing as a large power and going to war with smaller weaker powers by using free war goals to get a better understanding of war

If you read the description of it only one of them needs to exist for them to get around maginot. Although I could be wrong about how it works
They can bypass it if the low countries dont exist. Luxembourg exists so they cant bypass it. they would get wargoal on luxemberg

Royal Navy was asleep??? What happened?
I think they were out of position trying to blockade and/or raid German shipping in the Baltic during the first few weeks of the war. Towards the end of the war you can some lost naval battle icons in the Channel indicating that the Royal Navy did redeploy in force to the Channel and was beating the French naval forces there. However, at that point Pravus had already gotten his troops into Britain so it was too late to matter from a strategic perspective.
