Son-of-a-'beach'! They've just issued a tsunami warning. The Chileans faced a FAR MORE DANGEROUS SITUATION way, way back on May 22nd 1960 when a 9.5 moment magnitude grand slammer of an earthquake occurred about 80 miles northwest of Valdivia. (It's still the most powerful on record.) The Pacific sure 'rose to the occasion' as tsunamis along some parts of the Chilean coast reached around 80 feet. The tsunamis went all the way to Japan where waves in a few areas reached around 35 feet high. It's also the first tsunami for which a warning was issued.
