    Just another amazing Joe jam. When they created the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it's entertainers like this they had in mind. A true entertainer with guts to go in several directions, and nail them.

    I was there! Front (and I mean front) row (Sydney - 1991) to the stage left of Joe, between him and the late Mindy. I remember this one very clearly until now. The 2nd best concert I have ever seen, after Led Zeppelin in 1972.

    I’d been wanting to see JJ ever since he started recording. Then he moved to America & I thought that all was lost. Luckily I saw him in 2019 in Cork in Ireland. What a musician, so talented & under rated. His music evolved over the years & is still evolving…genius.

    Yes, I agree STRONGLY that Joe Jackson is a phenomenal musician in all ways. I just love his WITTICISMS and the social commentary in his songs and lyrics! His early songs to the latest... doesn't matter he is a consummate professional, with any genre out there! Perfectly JOE.

    19 Forever. Whenever I hear this song I think of someone who wore that number on their baseball jersey. Like Joe Jackson he could qualify as one of the the most underrated stars of his era. I'm talking about Tony Gwynn. He played his entire career for his team. They have a statue of him at the entrance to their ballpark;and his number has been retired. #19. 19 forever.

Saw Teeley play on the 2nd show of the Pre 'Laughter And Lust' club tour in 1990. That show was one of the best I have ever been to.

  • @2ndEndingVintage

    "Blaze of Glory" - IMHO Joe's greatest album....completely ignored by mainstream critics and radio.... and completely overlooked by most rock fans. Oh, and backstory - he wrote this tune at the time when famous 'retired' rock bands decided to start touring again - Stones, Pink Floyd, etc....brilliant bit of satire.

    • @JJfanz
      @JJfanz  Před 4 lety +1

      To be fair to the rest of the unappreciative world, I think it was an arrogant move of Joe to release the CD as a single track without breaks. If you've got a spare hour, this is a fantastic album. Otherwise it's a bit frustrating.

    • @2ndEndingVintage
      @2ndEndingVintage Před 4 lety

      @@JJfanz Well, that's debatable. I would say it is specious that an artistic decision should get characterized as an 'arrogant move' (He was hardly the first recording artist to segue one song into the next on an album). This album was not marketed by the label as aggressively as others. Plus by the late 80's, recording tech was capable of separating the tunes into singles (Nineteen Forever was released and played on radio as a Single). IMHO hardly a reason for this album to have been relatively ignored. It has some masterful compositions on it.

    • @JJfanz
      @JJfanz  Před 4 lety

      @@2ndEndingVintage thanks for the reply. I was responding to the 'completely ignored by mainstream critics and radio.... and completely overlooked by most rock fans'. I think that the artistic decision is very important in that context, as he deliberately made the album less accessible for the sake of art (actually I remember reading a comment from a pissed-off dj or reviewer at the time). He certainly wasn't the first artist to segue one song into the next, but it's still a courtesy to the listener to allow navigation through the album, as well as the radio station. Yes, 'Nineteen Forever' was separated out as a single, but it would have so great to hear 'Blaze of Glory', 'Evil Empire', and others played as album tracks - they certainly deserved it. Thanks for engaging!
