  • In this video I review a 2009 Acura RDX equipped with the Tech Package which is the first generation model of the RDX sold from 2007 to 2012. The RDX is a compact luxury crossover vehicle based on the Honda CRV but offers a premium style, high level of luxury and tech features and a sporty 2.3L 4clinder turbo with an available SH-AWD system.

Anyone thinking of buying a used RDX should research the common and very expensive problem of the wastegate boost loss, throwing a "P2263 Check Emissions" code. Once it does you will end up having to replace the entire turbo around 90k-150k miles at a cost of 5k-$10k depending on if you use Honda or an off market turbo. It's a $7 piece that gets out of round on the wastegate, that renders the car limp and will not pass an emissions test, and the only fix is to replace the entire turbo. I've owned 3 RDXs and will never buy another after finding out the hard way.

I really really really want one. These are such beautiful SUVs. And imo this really is an SUV. Now, granted, it's not the cool boxy SUVs from back in the day. But this isn't a gross super round design. It has the curves in the right places, that nice turbo charged 2.4 K series. Hell I don't think any of the other Hondas/Acura came with this particular configuration. I love it

I have 2008 RDX. I bought it 2 year old and I drive it for 12 years. 370K on it. Love it in general. All Pros are in the video. Cons are: bad on gas, air conditioner compressor got changed 3 times, turbo gasket gave me a huge problem once. But I put regular in it all the time before and after and it's fine. Also multiple interior "leather" parts needed to be changed or repaired. Noone can figure out the reason of battery drain for years, even though I have bluetooth disconnected. Voice recognition is a joke. Audio system makes some buzzy sound. Too hard to figure out some street names on the Navi.

@@MrBumpalicious On the wet weather it might not survive overnight. So I diconnect the battery if it's raining. Cold weather is not a problem though. Hot weather is fine. If you leave it for a week in the airport parking, it won't start. Also you can't keep ignition on while the engine is off. After just 5 or 10 minutes it won't start.

Had an 2007 RDX got rid of it in 2018 because it had issues at 153,000 miles after buying it used at a Toyota dealer at 80,000 miles in 2011. A/C stopped working, battery drain that was never solved by 2 Acura dealers, which caused the RDX to have no battery after a few days if you didn't use it. Pretty disappointed considering I had a TSX and 2 Honda Accords before this. I do miss the turbo engine.
