Another adventures of Ben Cartwright and his sons (Pernell Roberts, Dan Blocker, Michael Landon and Mitch Vogel) as they run and defend their ranch while helping the surrounding community.
One of the best episodes of Bonanza! Lots of depth and inside of the human mind and view of the world. A group of Civil War veterans who are struggling to re-enter society. Very good emotional touching acting by "John-Boy Walton" (Richard Thomas) and Lorne Greene. 👏 In this episode Lee Purcell plays Richard Thomas's love interest. The two actors would appear together again in The Waltons: The Wing-Walker (1975) where Purcell would again play Thomas' love interest. Although it very much looks like as if Richard Thomas is singing, the vocals are by Michael Martin Murphey.
This episode is rumored to have inspired songwriters Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman, in collaboration with Richard Thomas (John Boy Walton), to write the 1972 hit song Little Willy which was performed by the British glam rock band The Sweet.
*SOUND REMEDY* If you use headphones, a secondary speaker or bluetooth device the sound works for some reason. Found that out a while ago and that's how I'm able to enjoy these.
Ex-soldiers (Richard Thomas, Kevin Tighe) camping on Ponderosa land cause an incident with a local girl (Lee Purcell). The Cartwrights lend their support to The Weary Willies, a group of Civil War veterans who are struggling to re-enter society. No I think you got it wrong. The ex soldiers did not cause the incident with the girl. The city suiter did that. He couldn't stand it that the pretty girl Lee Purcell liked the the ex soldier and not him. That's the problem thing alot of city suiters. They seem to think just because they're in a suit that all the ladies will want them. And if they get rejected they lose all sense. Yet they think nothing of cheating on their women. Fancy clothes is not what makes a man. It's what's in their hearts. Even God says come as you are!
Remember people. It's not what you where that counts. It's what is in your heart. Ladies watch out for men in suits who start trying to control you. A real man speaks from his heart. Not from his pocket book. Wonderful episode. Good lesson. 👍
I think the guy in the white blue shirt is the bar owner of the double deuce in roadhouse with patrik swayze , damn he was in his youth in this ep of bonanza.
The lesson being presented here is simple if you don't like something, a feeling, or event you are already here, now you must since you exist face full on that which you are complaining about, not by blaming and shaming others, but by looking in the mirror of one's soul and admitting where am I a part of this complaint?

Ben Cartwright was actually pretty damn liberal and open minded for the times. This episode reminds me of the counter culture movement if the 60's & early 70's.
