Bowness was so dope while in both Vancouver and Tampa as an assistant for Jon Cooper and Alain Vigneault respectively! And Tocchet very impressed by what he's done with the canucks this season not gonna lie there and I am not even a canucks fan

Way too many similarities to these teams. The steps they've taken to get where they are is nearly identical. Long time captains leaving the organization, trading away players that weren't fitting in to the system, a commitment and complete buy-in to a structured defensive system, and elite goaltending. Both teams have turned to a fresh page. And both teams acted early to get a piece they needed before the trade deadline. Those are just the on the surface similarities.

Rick Tocchet has quickly become one of my favourite Canucks coaches in team history. Pat Quinn, Alain Vigneault and now Tocchet. All guys that the players seem to look up to and have a lot of respect for. They want to play hard for these guys. Bowness is another one of those coaches too. He was awesome in Vancouver as an assistant coach

Rick Tochett’s emphasis on making newly acquired players feel at home is key to his success with Vancouver. I didn’t like him at first, but that was just ignorance. The man has legacy as a player - I mean the all-time record for Geordie Howe hat tricks, come on! Much experience playing for many teams too. And now, on the verge of winning coach of the year, one can say he’s well on the road to legacy as a coach too.
