Sailing Into a TYPHOON!? - Ferry Cruise from Alaska to Washington! 🌊 (Full Stateroom TOUR!)

- Our RV is back on the ferry! This sailing was rough 😅 We got caught in a crazy storm that had the ship rocking and us miserable in our stateroom for 2 days. But it sure beats tent camping! The Alaska marine highway was still beautiful, but boy are we glad we don’t have to step foot on another ferry for the foreseeable future! 🤢

We're Eric & Allison and we're on a journey to find the most interesting places and unique foods this planet has to offer! We've traded in our steady paychecks and permanent home for a life of travel and adventure. Come along and see the world with us!
Ya’ll are troopers. I was getting seasick watching this. Also shoutout to whoever your graphic designer is that updates the type of vehicle in relation to the destination topic you go to at each intro. You guys are so stellar with your attention to detail and I love it!
They’ve been doing it for years and I’m always impressed 👍
I remember when it was just a static graphic. The animation aspect just takes it to a whole other level!
I want to second this. It’s super impressive.
I live for the intro updates!! 😅
..."ya'll"...lol...
What an adventure! Eric happy to hear your mom is doing ok. Safe travels no matter where you bring us next. ~Cara 😊
Prayers for Eric’s mother…❤️glad you both made it safely back..thanks for always sharing and making me laugh…😀
"At least I'll get to throw up in the comfort of my lovely state room". Knocked me out.
Allison and Eric come to rescue again with another great video🎉
Fun fact: When I was young our family lived in a house directly on a cliff overlooking the ocean one mile south of Deception Pass, Washington. When the Alaskan Ferry would sail past our location we used our telescope to watch people on the decks of the ferry as well as the wheelhouse.
Green apples! The sour kind. As soon as you bite into it, nausea goes away. I can’t believe how it works! A crewmember on a cruise ship turned me onto it. But on the flipside, just don’t eat too many you’ll get sick from the apples!
Glad to hear you are getting time with your mom
You guys are doing great. It can’t be easy juggling keeping your channel going and supporting your family during difficult times. Life is unpredictable.
I retired from work a month ago, thinking to have a restful few weeks before getting down to some diy’ing, but my 90 year old father in law isn’t coping any longer, so we’ve been travelling a lot to see him. At least our travel distances in the UK aren’t anything like you have in the US. It still took us eight hours to get home last week though.
Wild trip! Love the Colophon Cafe!!
It's good to hear Allison kept her insides on the inside, I rarely feel seasick but I was on an overnight ferry trip from Spain to the UK a few years ago in a storm. I was ok apart from one time when the boat briefly went up, down and side to side simultaneously, it was close but I managed to keep my insides intact 😄
OMG, that would have me mentally keeping the boat afloat!
Oh boy, glad you made it through! It's a wild feeling being thrown around by waves...and it's especially annoying when it's nighttime and you're panicking instead of sleeping. Glad you, your insides and the ferry made it through unscathed! 😅
Ooooooh Yaaaaa'llzzzz....... That graphic of Clementine and Ruby driving up into the ferry 🎸 Rocks Ya'll!!!!
You two are really fun!
Eric and Allison you both are true adventure seekers (maybe dare devil's ) at the same time. Thinking about you be safe ❤❤
Have been a silent viewer for so long! Just wanted to say that I really love your videos and have been watching them since 5 years. Great quality, amazing camera work, great content, and I find you guys really articulate as well (except when Allison forgets her words hehe). Really beats me when quality content like yours doesn't get as much traction as "lifestyle content" teenagers with 2M+ followers.
Wish you guys all the success and good health! Looking forward to the international trips :)
Thank you so much for the comment and all the support over the years! ❤️ We might not have the biggest audience, but we sure do love our little community on here. Here's to 5 more years of crazy adventures together! 🙌
😂 tow truck hilarious! I seen a moving truck named, B&E moving company!! 😂😂
Enjoyed your podcast thank you Dave
When I was a kid we took a small boat to a tropical island in Australia during a typhoon/hurricane/cyclone. It was rocking so much the windows alternated between complete sky or sea. We couldn't enjoy our time on the island too much as you couldn't snorkel and then everyone had to be evacuated by helicopter lol. It was so windy you almost walked sideways on the beach!
Oh my goodness! That sounds wild! So sorry your trip was ruined, but what epic memories it gave you 😅
I have lived in Southeast Alaska for 56 years and that is just a normal day around here. I love the rain and wind and would never move down in America no matter what. I will also add that i work outside in the weather all the time.
The patches you wear on your neck are very effective for people who are prone to motion sickness. Also, my wife, who is prone to it, finds that green apples help for some reason.
16:01 ‘The sea was angry that day my friends, like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli…’ -George Costanza 😂
SERENITY NOW
It's just what I was thinking, George the "marine biologist"!
A tip to avoid seasickness on rough seas is to actually have a visible line of sight to the horizon. Your eyes being able to "agree" with the rest of your senses when it comes to the movement does wonders for helping to stabilize your sense of balance. Looking out the window is actually a great thing to do, and the best option would have been if you can look at the horizon in the direction of travel down the bow.
When your senses of balance and motion don't agree with each other, the effect is exaggerated inside the body. The brain doesn't like it when one sense is saying "everything seems normal" but your others saying otherwise. The key senses here being located within a person's ankles(and/or lowest point of contact with the ground to a lesser extent), the fluid in the inner ear canal, and sight. There is a reason why dizziness is so much worse if you do the "lean over and go in circles" and you are blindfolded.
I love Bellingham so much.
Well done guys. I am a marine geoscientist and on research vessels at sea for a month or more at a time. My worst cruise was in the "Roaring 40s" between New Zealand, Australia and Antarctica.. we had 3 storms and
Oh my word. That is literally my worst nightmare...no sleep, no land in sight, crazy storms?! 😨 Storms at sea definitely make you realize how little control you have over anything and how teeny tiny you are. So glad you kept it together (for the most part) and can now just relive that as a very distant memory. 🙌 What a truly wild experience!
am enjoying every bit of this..... I love you guys...
1. DO NOT watch the waves. 2. Eat green apples (yes, it works) 3. DO NOT take meds until you start to be nauseous. 4. DON'T TALK ABOUT IT 😂😂😂😂Safe travels ❤️
Nice to see a British bus in America
Looking forward to the trips in the future. Be safe going back home to see Eric's Mom. Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks for the video
Good Videos really like your little Suzuki Samurai looks brand new
Ending a boring work call with...."oh, I just got a notification for something I must look into asap. Can I take this away to reasearch and get back to you on Monday with a proposal?" 😂 the things im wiling to do for some endless adventure!!!
Bellingham is a fun place to go Antiqueing! My mom n I used to do that. Good times😊
Great video despite queasiness, lol
My husband and fisherman buddies swear that by drinking a beer or 2 before boarding, keeps most from sea sickness as it throws off your balance before the ship does.
Lol
hi good moring nice rain i love the rain happy day😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Allison and Eric, I love, love watching your channel. It's funny, interesting, informative and you keep it real. I look forward to your next adventure. Safe travels and sending Hugs 🤗🤗
I love 'adventuring' with The Endless Adventure!!!
❤️ thanks for coming along with us!
I am a 48 year old who gets motion sickness while driving (occasionally) The Relief Band has helped some but more it has helped recover. I am not one of those who can get out of a car and be fine. Just to let ya know.
Welcome back!
It's very rough. I don't think I will be able to board. Thanks for the fun video. From Japan
I grew up in Bellingham, it was cool to see Colophon Cafe and Village Books on video! Love your channel!
Thanks!
what a wild ferry adventure glad you survived. Give are best wishes to your mom when you get home, and we will look forward to whatever you decide to do next
Oh man I feel you
Winter. And it's usually windy around Haida Gwaii anyway. Not too bad. Where the ferry can be REALLY nasty is Kodiak to Dutch and also in the Gulf around Yakutat. Safe travels.
Damn, I definitely would have 🤮 on that boat ride haha! I can't believe that you lasted 2 days on there. This was a really fun journey!! From the car wash to the boat ride to Einstein chilling on the bench in Washington. Excellent video as always guys and glad you made it to WA safely. 👍🔥💯
wow very interesting experience friend
Try ATF fluid in your engine oil
Should clear up the valve lifter tick you guys have until you can have a mech look at it
So glad you made it back to the lower 48 in one piece! Looking forward to your next adventure guys. Be safe!
That sounds coming from clementine is eerily familiar. When I had fouled out spark plugs it did that same thing
Very entertaining video 📹. See you on the road adventurers 😊.
sounds like an exhaust manifold gasket. The Ls motors tend to due that when there is a exhaust leak.(tick)
Come over to Port Townsend, on the Olympic Peninsula, you'll never wanna leave.
That is the road salts and solution used to melt ice on the roads.
🙏 for Mom!
You picked a great spot for lunch in Bellingham.
Thank goodness you guys made it safely! I was on a ferry between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan in South Thailand when we hit bad weather. Big waves hitting the boat. I had never been more terrified in my life. You guys are troopers!
What an adventure! I get very motion sick too and take Bonine in vain it seems. So proud of you for not throwing up! Glad you made it safely . Good call getting the stateroom. 😊
never been this early it says you posted 51 seconds ago.....I never sailed into a typhoon. Looking forward to seeing this endless adventure......
Well you’ve definitely never sailed into a typhoon in the northern hemisphere. You may have sailed into a hurricane.
First time on your channel amazing I like it Andy Dublin Ireland
Burnt toast is good for stopping nausea, has to have a real decent amount of Charcoal on it for it to work.
HOW have I only now just found your channel? Really enjoyed this - a slightly different style of ocean travel vlogging to what I cover on my channel, ha!
Welcome to the adventure! And ya...cruising is a much nicer experience. 🤣Although we have had some crazy weather on our cruises before, but at least there's always food available!
hope everything goes well with Eric's Mom happy that your boat ride was interesting
TikTikTikTIKTik in my old cars always meant o-i-l…. You’re driving with hardly any oil in Clementine guys 😮 Have a safe trip and little stomach issues. Best of luck y’all!!😮
Love these videos enjoy Washington it’s my home and I miss it
Think it's time to pamper yourselves and go stay at a very nice resort, if possible.
When I was in the navy and when we went through heavy weather, the cooks would churn out the extra greasy pork chops and bacon. Good times.
Seasick medicine is an absolute must. For those who think well you never get sea siclk , i also thought the same till i regreted it. They were even sold out on the boat of any motion sickness medicine because everyone was sick.
My truck makes a ticking sound when it gets cold. I am convinced it is the manifold gasket where the exhaust attaches to the engine. Mine has been making the ticking sound in the cold for a few years, you do not hear it when it is warm. One day I might get it replaced.
Lovely vlog a always ❤ Thanks for the movie suggestion 😂 But I can’t believe that you watched Triangle of Sadness while you were on board in a storm 😅 🤢⛴️ LOL 😂
Try the bay of Biscay!
Good that you washed the rigs as they use a lot of chloride on the dirt roads to keep the dust down and it is very corrosive.
Allison for future reference get some sea bands to wear on your wrists. They really help with the motion sickness.
YAY!!!!!
Pretty sure Clementine just has exhaust leak. 6.0 famous for broken exhaust manifold bolts
Just a note on the engine ticking, think it's normal on an LS motor.
Lol worst solicitation ever.
"How much"?
"All of it". 😂😂😂
You guys sold me on the first boat journey as camping on the deck looked like such fun. But after seeing this, we might just drive up. I get terribly seasick.
Just keep an eye on the weather...I think this was fairly rare for this ferry trip. Obviously driving will give you more control and you can avoid seasickness altogether, but if you get the chance for a smooth sail, it's such a fun and peaceful way to make the long journey north!
Allison deserves a Caribbean cruise after all that.
I'm pretty sure you did an LS swap into clementine if you're getting a ticking from the engine first check and make sure it's not just an exhaust leak. The exhaust manifolds like to warp and most of the time the very back bolt on the driver's side will break. Also the gold color doorman brand exhaust manifold bolts like to come loose. Hopefully that's all it is! If not the bearings in the roller lifters go bad alot on the 5.3l and 6.0l unfortunately it's not like an old small block chevy where you can pull the intake manifold and access the lifters. On the LS design you have to pull off the cylinder heads to replace lifters.
You guys always put a positive spin on bumps on the road that you encounter. I like that.👏🏻👏🏻🥰🥰🥰
Dad was moving to Kodiak back in the mid 70s and we took the Tustumena up the inside passage in the winter. Me, my sister had chickenpox AND got sea sick. Mom had to deal with 2 sick kids and because dad never had chickenpox he could not be in the same cabin. He also got sea sick. Mom was on her own. I was 4, sister was 1.
Seen this episode a few times already buy just noticed you zoomed in my wife's car at 6:10. You must have been on same ferry as she was when we moved out of AK.
The thing that I admire most is that you apparently figured out how to sign up to get on the ferry. BTW, ferries tend to be slow. Five hours is nothing. LOL
Welcome back to the lower 48. I hope the weather is good for a bit.
We already had snow in Colorado.n
As I start the video I said "here we go" 😂
Next time try motion sickness bands❣️
Your little Putt-Putt that you hear coming out of there that ticking that's an exhaust manifold leaking against the block which is no big deal just needs to have a gasket change... There's not much that goes wrong with an LS Chevy engine.. but CZcams keep up the Great adventures in the great videos love watching them every time you do them.
Allison, the only thing that works for me is the patch. Not everyone can use it and it does need a prescription. Seasickness is horrible. You both are troopers! I have heard that hanging a towel on the wall gives you a sight line to use.
Beats the tent. :)
In Canda those are normal called Moose Knuckles not Camel Toes lll
Good thing you weren't sleeping on the deck for this one! 😮🤮 🙂
Omg...so glad you're not camping out on deck during THAT!
When the ferry I have to take for my car with me I have to drive from Oklahoma to Bellingham Washington and take the ferry from Bellingham to Whittier Alaska and it’s supposed to take a week but the one for the route im supposed to be on doesn’t open to transport till April… I’ve been on boats and cruises before and understand the industry to not get sea sick but I’m still scared since I’m going alone when I turn 20 sooo quite an adventure
You should start taking the bonine about 12 hours or so before you leave and it will work better
The ear patch is the only thing that works for me. Try it next time. Plan ahead.
Go check out Deception Pass and the small town of Coupeville on Whidbey Island.
What a calm sailing. You haven't got a clue about waves. 😂😂😂😂😂
Glad y’all good! Safe travels! 🙌
not bad you haven't seen rough till your porthole window is under water and you are walking on the walls open water from Haida Gwaii till Rupert
Glad y’all made it back.
Only 5 freaking’s in this video👍
