Donât be scared off guys this solo isnât actually that hard, itâs just long. If you give it enough time and put in effort you can learn it within two weeks or even sooner!
I got half of it down in just a few hours. go me!!
I hope sođ„ș
@@vivos9411 I got all but the harmony so far. Thatâs next.
Bruh it took me a month to master. Thats probably how long it rakes to perfect, not learn.
Nice i only took 4 weeks and cant do even half of it
For those who are frustrated because they canât play and make it sound like him...concentrate on trying to make it sound like you, he gives you the notes, shows you how to play them....now add your own little trills &Frills.. if you canât play it exactly, find another route around it...when it sounds right, it is right, but donât get disheartened if you canât play it verbatim... just put your own feel into it..đ
Coldeb 89 this is honestly the best advice to give people. Took that to hart a few months ago and it changes everything

you are right, thanks for your comment,my friend
This is probably the BEST advice Iâve ever heard from a guitarist to beginners. Also often times itâs better to make it sound like you anyway. Iâm not Joe Walsh, Iâm ME, and I want to sound like me not someone else. Can I play this solo like in the video? Sure I can, but I donât necessarily always want too. Bravo on your advice.
that's the best advice one fellow player can tell to another. well done , sir.
Its literally a battle between who will break first, the finger or the string.
Edit- string lost at lick 6
sure dude, my string first :(
or the mind. or the spirit. Or the bank.

Well, my finger's the one who broke. Practiced too hard and open up my middle finger nail. Hurts like hell!
@@justinlessard1477 Ouch.
This video gave me the inspiration to sell my guitar.
I gave mine away, then she gave it back, and now I realize why I give it away the first time.

Stick with it. You can do it. The iconic ending is deceptively easy. You know D and D minor? Just 8 triads chords of only 3 shapes. 3 are D shapes and 3 D minor shapes higher in the neck and the other shape is easy.

This is the only way guitar solos should be taught on CZcams. Been playing guitar almost 20 years and only just finally nailed this solo because of this video! Only took me a few times through the video and then repetition to build up muscle memory (especially the harmonized licks at the end).
I've tried along the way, more a rhythm guitarist/songwriter, circled back, now, ready to approach again. Keeping at it. Be well. Rich of Riffer
Good stuff mate,I'm glad u did,
I'm just starting that same journey but it's coming together slowly but surely
How long had you been playing guitar when you started learning this solo? just curious
I'd been playing about 8 years but on & off.
I can be terribly lazy so this always holds me up but it is definitely doable

Faris Farhan thatâs a bummer man, I always think ab what would happen if I damaged my hands or arms and wouldnât be able to play... life would suck
I just found the trick how to bend to right pitch...when you think you bend it hard enough, then bend it even more...then that's the right note of the first 12b
@@nicolasrea2185 its healed already, its basically just a sore muscle thing and not a serious injury, but if you don't rest during that period of muscle soreness, you could injure yourself and worst case scenario, permanent damage, glad mine healed in just a few days.

Yep, the 9 and the 8 that follow should be on the D string. That aside, this is THE BEST Hotel CA tutorial I e ever seen. Actually, the best presentation style of ANY lead.

After 2 years of on and off practice, I've finally learned it and it's so satisfying. I'm a mediocre player, so keep practicing and you'll get there. Knowing that you can play the most iconic solo on the guitar makes it worth the pain, suffering and fingertips on fire.

I am a 51 year old uncle who is Japanese and loves rock. I became able to play songs that I could not play when I was a high school student. Please continue uploading from now on.
Hats off to you man !!
Your teaching method is awesome!!
You break it down so intelligently.
Playing entire solo first, for people who just need to see it played up close, or just need a few pointers, then transition into a more in-depth study.
It is a really good presentation method.
Now, I do appreciate that these videos are available "free" on CZcams, (support is always important though) and if I don't like it, I know I can take a hike, but I hate listening to a person in video telling me to put 1st finger on 2nd fret on 4th string, then 2nd finger on 3rd fret on .... well you get idea.
....
One of my best friends is a world standard guitarist, he always says, "get the notes right first",
it's amazing how good things sound when you get the notes right, then the timing then start bending properly.
Finally after about 2 years of practicing the guitar until my fingers fall off, I can play it note by note! :)
RIP high e string. 12/30/20- 4/13/21
He was buried next to my late middle finger, who died before him by being cut open from this solo.
May he shred in peace.
Try playing it on 8 gauge strings, the bends feel like nothing

One of the most melodic leads in history. Really tapped into the melody on this one.
It would take an eternity to master this incredible solo .

when you have an acoustic but you really wanna learn sick guitar riffs đ„”

Buy, barter, trade, beg, do whatever but get an electric and start learning sick riffs. (Hotel California is about as sick as I get because I'm old). I stared playing acoustic 30 years ago and finally after 10 years I really wanted to rock so I got my first electric. I sounded like crap at first but all those chords & strength built up playing acoustic all those years paid off. It was like, wow I can fly over this fretboard compared to my acoustics. Now with tabs and free online videos like this one, it takes no time at all to learn these riffs! As usual, thanks to the up-loader who did this demo. Get an electric Aggie (cool name by the way).
its better on acoustic, dont find reasons to not to do it., i'm a beginer and just learnt by just seeing don felder playing it, keep working, it ttok me days

great lesson, I've been putting of learning this for years and ib finally buckled down and got it. I really like that you just played it and put the tabs in the vid with no other unnecessary commentary.

Even though this video is from eight years ago, I'm still going to comment here. This video is really cool, and I'm going to play this solo in a performance at school in a week, thank you very much for making the video with the original tab :)
i am really liking your style of tutorials. Love the quick break downs. No long explanations of notes, just straight to the point. Love it ! great work man. PS- Hows those 9's :-) They bend like butter hu ?
Finally learnt the solo in this lock down period. Thnx man
This is one of the first videos on YT that actually make me learn something. Perfectly set up. Performance, then break the licks down with tabs in the video. I really feel that i can learn this solo like this. right now just finishing up 11th lick so well on the way. keep up the great job!
One of the most beautiful guitar solos! Starting from the first lick, 3 half tones band. Absolutely amazing!
Yes, Iâm playing with .008, .011 and .015 (E, B and G)and I still cheat on the bends. I play the 3 half note bends one fret higher and only bend 2 half steps.
This is one the best tutorial I have seen on youtube
My point, middle and ring finger are full of callus now just playing this solo non stop just to perfect it. Tabs are easy but the execution is hard.
Thank you for this!!! 7 yrs later and still inspiring. I never thought I could learn this. It's rough, but I got it. Thanks again!!!
Been playing guitar for 14 years and I never bothered trying to learn this song. Just finished learning it today thanks to you. Awesome lesson!
Best Guitar - Lesson EVER!
Way back 2018 I really wish to learn this solo. but I can't even read notes and tabs. I was disappointed because i have only acoustic guitar. But I never stop learning from it. Until 2020 i borrow my bandmate Electric guitar and taking a chance to learn this solo, it's not hard tho , it's just too long , you just need enough time and patience to practice and eventually I did it. â„ïžâșïž It took over 1week practicing. And now I can play it even I'm not watching my hands. ( LAW OF ATTRACTION) you can do it.
I have been an acoustic guitar player and finally decided to put my electric one to use. Felt like a near impossible task to pull off this solo but slowly and steadily I am getting there thanks to your video.
this is the first lesson by this guy that I've come across, but he figured it out. these are far better than 90% of the professional dvds you'd buy in a music shop. I'll have a hard time using other videos for songs this guy hasn't done now. I think I'll just learn whatever songs this guy makes videos for. fuggit. keep up the good work man. if you have a PayPal for donations or something, let us know
Patience, determination & a very good use of lockdown is how to master this, Is anyone that organised ? I guess the people that go on to be good guitar players are. Maybe 1 in 10 ??

@RockerTheMetal Hey man! Just finally finished learning this solo from this video! Took me about a month to get all the notes down. Now I just gotta work on playing it full speed.
This is probably one of the best guitar tutorials on CZcams simply because of how you arranged it. You've broken it down into parts, played it at full speed, the slowed it down with tabs on-screen so people can follow along. Just makes everything so much easier to understand when done like this. Props man
EDIT: Stairway To Heaven is next on my list!
Month? Really that long really?

You'll get used to it eventually, just keep going. I started learning this solo with 9s, but then broke my low e string (on another song), so I switched to a guitar with 10s, and got used to it in a matter of 3 days.
The lesson is perfect, and makes the solo super easy to master. Thank you so much for uploading this video lesson! đ
When i first started learning this i quickly was overwhelmed. I am 44 and have played since 15 yrs old, mostly casually, but have gotten serious last several years. This song/solo to me is top 5 greatest ever. So anyways i am nearly half way thru, practicing on avr 10 mins a day on what i learned and slowly adding another lick. I am not a lead guitarists but i want to tackle this one so hard. Then i will tackle no more tears(ozzy) too young to fall in love(morley crue) sleepwalk (johnny and santos)
Hello, Just thought i sign in and say a 'Big Big thank-you' for doing this lesson for all of us who can't work it out on our own, it is not easy by any means. A brilliant job & easy to follow, split up into stages for us as well. I just kept listening to the original & then back to the lesson & so on. @@aeabdu My father said the same thing to me when I started 20 years ago. I think he was wrong. They are two very different instruments. You don't need to "graduate" to an electric.
