Here's the story as told by producer Elite:
The “Neighbors” story is crazy. Basically Cole rented out a house in North Carolina. It’s not for him; it’s like a safe haven/creative workspace for all the Dreamville artists and producers. We call it the Sheltuh, and a lot of the album was recorded there.. It’s basically a studio in a basement, in the woods.
It’s also in the suburbs of a pretty wealthy neighborhood in North Carolina. So you have, predominately, African-Americans coming in and out of this house. Ubers coming, and every once in awhile you’ll see a group of us outside on the porch smoking weed. So the neighbors started getting real paranoid.
Apparently what happened was, we were all in Austin, Texas, for SXSW; thankfully no one was in the house when this went down. One of the neighbors told the police we were growing weed or selling drugs out of this house. And there was a huge investigation, like a million-dollar investigation. They flew helicopters over, sent an entire SWAT team armed with weapons, broke down the door and searched the whole house. Thankfully nobody was in the house. Our engineer Juro “Mez” Davis had just stepped out for lunch and he came back and saw the SWAT team busting down the door.
They go downstairs and all they see is a studio, and obviously they felt stupid. It’s just crazy ironic because out of anybody, they picked the wrong person. J. Cole is the last person to do anything like that. He’s out here doing extremely positive things for the community and for young artists. Because of obvious racism from the neighbors, the police were called and a raid took place.
Ye cuz black people are 3% of the population but commit 70% of the violent crimes maybe...

Great album, I listened to it a lot when I delivered for Amazon 10+ hours a day. I was messing around with a chick and she asked what I was listening to in 2019 and I said Jcole and she said oh, his music is old, I had to cut her off right there.

Not necessarily the sole reason but the entire raid was botched just because it was false. They could disable a surveillance camera because whoever is monitoring the house can see all of the officer's positions and fire upon them if they wish to do harm. Aside from the evidence recommendation if it's an actual trap house.

If you break drug laws, the raid tends to be pretty heavily armed since they don't know what other laws you have broken and people who do one drug tend to have multiple other drugs and make very bad decisions in a stressful situation like getting raided. There were two other doors that anyone could have escaped from.
They had helicopters as well, those have thermal watching the house from above. Only need them to go in through the front door at this point otherwise it's just splitting officers up and increasing the chances of one group getting wiped out by possible drug dealers inside if cole was actually dealing and shit. These officers are trained pretty well and you can clearly see it.

Simon I don't know how you came to that conclusion. A "terrorist" is one who strikes terror within people. That's what police do. So police are technically terrorists. As for my conclusion on what to do with the fact that cops are more dangerous than terrorists or any enemy abroad for that matter. Simple. Cops need better training and harsher disciplinary measures when they break the law. They should inspire goodness by example. So when they break the law, they should be made an example of. As in to say, if even a cop cannot escape the law, what chance does an ordinary civilian?

If they even thought of that BEFORE raiding the house the cameras would have been down before hand. They only thought to take then down AFTER they realosed the fked up. Period.
