That bowing happens when my stitch length is too small. I set my stitch length to 3 and sew slowly.

Quilting techniques, like most things are "pay now or pay later". Best to Pay now as the price gets much higher later!
I have a Bernina B530 (among others). I exclusively piece on that machine with the #57 gated foot. It is the best gated foot as it is not flimsy and will not bend AND the gate floats over crossing seams. My machine will allow me up to 2 clicks to the right and still stay within the straight stitch plate and the foot allowance. My perfect scant is 1 click to the right. My machine is just dumb enough to let me do this as it is an entry level in the 500 series. I can sew without thinking. (The higher level machines may not allow you to do any needle positions if it has a plate sensor and senses a straight stitch plate. My Juki Kirei is "smart" that way. I do not piece on that machine.
My 48" metal ruler is a lifesaver in the room and on the ironing board when needed. Thanks for your demo.
