I also have a daughter Amy . We never did rock hounding together but we did garage sales from an early age . She is now a grown woman and does very well finding and selling “Finds” from garage sales ! The bonding through the years was certainly great. Good luck with your Amy and enjoy the adventure!

Journeys being disabled 1,/2 time in wheel chair and bnb other time Walker. So you take me where I cant walk and love it. I have 3 kid craft tumblers I usually going at same time but haven't been down stairs 6 yrs. God bless happy journeys put me in your pocket where I can see on to the next one.
My goodness. You certainly have your struggles and I am impressed how you are powering thru to get anything done. I have been using a tile saw for my cutting, but recently bought a small flat lap with a trim blade. I will set it up as soon as I can get the time to make a proper workspace. I made one but did too nice of a job and my daughter took it over as a place to entertain her friends. LOL If you need some rocks cut, perhaps there is somebody local that can help you out? Alternatively, check with your local rocks shops and I bet they would do it for you.

The diamond wheel used on these tile cutting saws can be cheaper than the tiny diamond wheel for my Dremel. It's an EZ lock and I know there are cheaper alternatives, but still... I spent $28 on the Dremel cutting wheel and I've spent half the price for 4 1/2" diamond wheels/blades for my angle grinder.
I use a jeweler's optic often but have not yet graduated to a microscope. I know a few who do it and take some amazing pictures of gold and other other minerals.
These videos are very informative and interesting. They definitely hold my attention. I've learned a lot about rock. I went rock hunt and found that rock are interesting even in Manhattan New York, Central park . Thanks oh i also plan on investing in a thumb cutter, ouch. No just messing

Back in the Sixties my father had large floor standing diamond saw, at the time the largest in Northern Ontario , and when they were trying to rework the dumps they quite often sent down large rocks to be cut in half for analysis. Curious as to if you are from the Tri-Town area, we were from North Bay.
FYI. My father (a long time member of the Nipissing Lapidary and Mineral Club) took me on field trips to Port Loring when I was young, specifically Big Caribou Lake. He had a friend that was a prospector that went through that area during WW2 looking for mica. I don't know which island it was on but he took us to one that had an outcropping of Beryl/Aquamarine. The only thing I can say is that it was right the waters edge and had to be accessed by a half hour boat trip. There may also be some amazonite in the area. Rockhounding in the area was usually for Pyrite crystals, Garnets and silver. We also did quite a few club trips to Cobalt. Back then they were actually using ore bearing rocks to level off parking lots around the mines.

OMG. No stroller for a while for her! She has gone on a couple of rockhounding trips with me. The last one had some nice apatite crystals and she had fun for a while hacking them from the wall, then was way more interested watching Daisy try to hump another dog in the head. It is hard to compete with distractions. LOL

I am going deer hunting next week and know it is time for snow. Always snows when I am up there. However, if it holds off, I might get one more trip in and then the best bet until spring is Niagara for fluorite and calcite in dolostone.
You've encouraged me to get some different grits (100 - 3000) to try out a little hand polishing on some simple stones I've found. Very instructive and easy to watch. Thanks!
@@meMiner im just in the middle of hand polish method you showed with some calcite i found. My first face up to 600 grit and im loving the look with the marble matrix already! I messed up at the store and had to grab a rough grit piece from my neighbour, he had the stuff that looks like a coated screen door (120 i think) ....amazing for the first polish i have to say. U didnt have this but thank you sir! My first polished stone thanks to your video 😁 (not excited at all can ya tell?)

Sometimes the Dremel attachments go on sale, but you are right..they are expensive. Also, I tend to misplace them

I could use a saw like that. I am from Port Perry (3 hours south of North Bay). Next trip up that way is probably Port Loring in Nov.
