Goodwill throws away a huge portion of what you donate. I feel better giving to family/friends that want the stuff. I KNOW it will be used and not go to a dump. The same feeling comes from selling. The item goes directly to someone that wants it.

I’m sorry but I am going to do whatever I want with myself. I wear braids and I am Latina. When we were younger my brothers would wear Afros because we all have curly hair. Other cultures don’t say anything about straightening out our hair or wearing wigs. It just silly she should wear what makes her happy.

I think box braids are generally associated with black culture. I think French braids are fine for a white child.

I came a little late in the live.
However, I graduate next week so if you have live next week I will unfortunately have to miss.
I am graduating at the age of 22 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, along with my mini degrees (certificates) I call them for my minors International Business and Women’s and Gender Studies.
Anyway, loved seeing you ladies tonight and doggie 🐶, have a great week ahead!💖💖💖

There are European braid styles, like milkmaid and Dutch braids, that she could wear without stepping in appropriation territory.
A few Black folks can't give permission on behalf of an entire culture. The parent is right to be aware that some folks will definitely have something to say about culture appropriation if she shows up with box braids, cornrows, or other historically African inspired hairstyles if she is not Black.

I know plenty of Caucasian girls who wear braids and they often get it in their hair color to suit them, as long as it looks good on her and suits her. Also, don’t get them to long too so it looks natural, she will love them.☺️

I think braids are apart of black culture. It is also popular in native American culture as well. I feel like French braids would be nice. I feel like culture appropriation is when someone is mocking someone culture without any respect. They don't even acknowledge the culture it comes from. I feel like the child can wear braids if it helps with management.

Uggggh, who cares about what people say about this child's hair. Whether she wants to wear it in braids or wear her natural hair. I think we need to teach our kids and our culture needs to embrace that everyone's hair is different and just because your skin may not match what society thinks your hair should look like really shouldn't be an issue. People can kick rocks! (In the nicest way) lol ❤️

I also love your braids Taye.
I am taking mine out next week, it will be exactly six weeks.
As long as your scalp is not bothered and don’t feel like they are about to fall out, Keep them!
    If not, don’t keep them.
I got Brandy styled braids (box braids in a 90s style, bob cut)😂 and I love them, but they have to come out because of my scalp.😔
    Sew-in is next though.

  • @kearstenw3855

OMG never leave your braids in for 3 months! A protective Style is meant to be in your hair 4 weeks at the most! Reason being is because you may not realize it but the hair is extremely heavy on your head. I don't know if she used synthetic hair or not, but that's even worse because it's a unnatural fiber which can irritate our natural strands. But you look absolutely gorgeous in them!!!

I was going to say the same as someone else. People of Jewish decent have kinky hair and are not black. So not really odd. Just odd for westerners. And many people of that decent just straighten their hair so we can’t tell. So I would just do what works for her hair whatever that is.

I think your friend should post her daughter and her hair and she would go viral even though people would swear she permed it to be tightly coiled because people can become more aware. I think people should kind their business but I know just like you said people will insert themselves which is annoying. Then I would show her getting her hair braided and her smiling. You will still get some backlash but what are they going to do, run up on her beat her?

  • @crochetbabe829

No, she should do what's comfortable and easy for her and her daughter. A more controlled and manageable hair. Blow drying, straightening the hair to make life easier is the way to go.
