Just a throwaway about this song : when I was young, sometimes me and my parents would see their friends for the day and go home late. I would fall asleep on the way back, on the back seat of the car, while listening to the radio. And one day, this song passed on the Jazz Music station. I absolutely loved it, that and another song, but I never was able to find them back.
I finally found it, eight years later. The second one was Shalom Aleichem XD
Mark Guiliana drumming is insane. More than gently disturbed. impossible rhythms. pure joy. Hard to say best album, because they are all good, but this is definitely a breakthrough album.

It discussed historical jazz influences such Dave Brubeck's metre changes and "lowering the action" on the bass that was popularized by the Bill Evans Trio. The essay also went into detail about the chord changes, instrument interactions and the overall timbre in a schematic format. It would do the essay better justice to post it, but all my university is copyrighted and thus belongs to the university. :/

Not at all. Where do you get piazzolla from this? This is neither 4/4 swing rythmn, nor is it a tango-jazz fusion. Their compositional styles are way different.
Basso Continuo Im not sure if Piazzolla is an influence on this music, but actually he got pieces that are way similar, specially on how he develop the rhythmic subdivision

I love it when I get a little taste of what's to come and this song has a lot of that flavour.
I felt that, the first time I heard this song and Avishai's trio ...I thought half joking, like god had come down to sit in on doing a bit of jazz on earth, and this was the group of people he decided to do that with👏🤗😂 I've never thought that before, nor am I religious. Nor am I refering to any religion in particular. It was just a passing observation🙂🌱🌳🕊

11 wives .... it is a tribute to the Prophet Muhammad. There is a nicer version live done in New York i think but it's been removed.
@@Bearpit222 that's what I also think. A kind of reminder that the Prophet had 11 wives in the same time. I already asked this question through the fan page of Avishai, I was waiting for a philosophical answer but obviously no answer since several months.
I know that's an old comment but there is the same kind of reference to the time signature in Seven seas (+ in Take five but that's not Cohen)

Yeah....that was tooo smart for me :) ...I finally managed to count to eleven....but to be honest not without cheating and asking Google fisrt !! :)

It's phrased as 3+3+3+2 with two bar phrases. It's really fast though, so it can be tricky to count, I don't imagine that any of them are consciously counting it, so much as just internalising the groove.
